Other than talk from the club after we drafted him, what has he ever shown at AFL level to show he is elite, he has now played near 100 games and will be 24 at the start of next season and we are still waiting for that break out game. Odds are he won’t reach the highs we  all hoping for.

Brayshaw on the other hand is the bigger mystery, he was elite in the 2nd half of last year matching it with the best of them, if he can find that level again he could be talked about in the same breath as Dangerfield who isn’t a good kick either but makes the most of all his other attributes

He’s shown it in parts, never an entire game. He has that burst and upper body power that makes me think he has it in him to be someone that takes a game apart in a way a star player can. His two biggest drawbacks appear to be his kicking for goal and the fact that he can drift in and out, he has asked for more midfield time next year, it will be interesting to see how he’s used.

Petrac  get off mum's cooking and be serious in what you are eating .

That is the problem.......................The rest will take care of itself.

Petracca had a decent year and if he wasn't an early pick we would be raving about him as an improving player. At this point, Dustin Martin is becoming a seriously overrated player anyway. Great finals player and a few good years of footy, but I hear some people try put him in Ablett jr and Fyfe's league. Martin is no where near that level IMO, he simply does not work hard enough during the home and away season to reach that level. Great player in his own right though.

Trac took steps fwd this year no doubt.

For me he needs to regain his confidence bordering on arrogance he seemed to have in his junior days.  Learn when to let loose and show his flair and dominance

he is already impossible to tackle and a fantastic mark. Great long kick.  He is close

Dusty did win a Brownlow medal for his home and away form and polled plenty of votes in the Brownlow this season so his home and away efforts can't be that bad. I would sooner have him than Ablett and IMO he is certainly in Fyfe's league. We could have had Dusty in the Red and Blue draft time but chose to go for someone else. Jack Trengove I think. Oh well.

I had a bet on Dusty for the Norm Smith this year and so I watched him pretty closely in the Grand Final. Without having the stats, he appears to run less than any midfielder in the competition. He starts in the centre bounce and only ever really runs forward. Obviously he is full throttle when the ball in nearby. The best thing about how the Tigers use him is that he plays as the deepest forward, almost like a traditional full forward.

As much as Petracca needs to improve his tank, I would actually like to see him cover less distance in a game and conserve his energy a bit more so he can have greater intensity at the contest.

I think that is called a gameplan Mr T.

Something our illustrious coach struggles with.

On a serious note the number of times he was free for the handpass in a damaging forward position during the finals was amazing

Are you kidding about Martin? I don't like him, but he is a total freak. Match winner. Some of the things I saw him do in the finals made me shake my head in disbelief.

What we see during the finals is what Martin is capable of. From what I seen, he went through the motions the past couple of home and away seasons, which reflects in his averages being down on other years. After 2017, I would've expected Martin to be trending upwards, but I saw the opposite. He looked disinterested at times. The grand final this year is what he is capable of and what I expected to see from him most games since 2017. He is still a star player and I would love to see him in the red and blue, but when comparing him to champions like Nat Fyfe, I couldn't have Martin anywhere close.

Martins work load is being managed IMO.
Carried a few injuries and spent alot of time forward where you might not rack up the k's as you would in the midfield.

Feel like Petracca will our jack ziebell, he doesn’t have the pace or evasiveness to be a Martin, Danger, Ablett or Judd type

How about letting him to be "our Christian Petracca".

I get a bit tired of hearing that player x needs to be player y.

If we changed name and year we could be talking about Colin Sylvia.

That's what worries me.

He could well be added to the pile of players that had massive talent and massive upside but we failed to turn into a superstar. Development of our young brigade remains to be a serious issue for the club.

Looking at our younger players that have “shown something”, so far not many have taken the next step to becoming out and out stars. Oliver would be the one name I would say is a star, but even he probably lowered his colours a little this year, But Weids is an example I would point to of someone who genuinely has shown some great ability but seems to disappoint. I’m not saying he won’t make it but after his breakout finals series I think a lot of us had hope he would show more this year.
