No nerves today cos I have zero expectations; they are the second best side in the competition and we are the third worst

Just hoping we look better and play to 2018 level...

...just can’t see it happening for us today

Bring on a few draught beers, a look at Lever 'n May, maybe a donut or two - life's good.

Petracca’s statistically had his worst six weeks since his first six games for the club four years ago. He’s averaging just 70 SuperCoach points and has kicked a paltry 10 goals from 11 games as a permanent forward line player. Those are horrible returns.

It’s amazing how divorced from reality our supporters (and the media) can be when it comes to this player. He’s either a chronic underperformer or simply not that good. I think it’s probably somewhere in between.

The similarities with Colin Sylvia’s career path are eerily similar.

No matter what the stats say, I believe that his inside bullocking that creates opportunities for others goes largely unnoticed on this site.

I like Smith. Wonder what mystery injury he has. Not sure we need Wagner as for once we have a decent backline! Perhaps Hibbo and/or Salem play midfield which I don’t mind at all.

Smith has to be the unluckiest/most injury prone footballer that has ever lived.

I reckon a massive game looms for Petracca. Has been good for the last 6 weeks and if it were not for some poor finishing would have some big hauls. I can see him kicking 4-5 goals with some dominant stints on ball. He will relish the big crowd at the G.

Dodgy in front of goals.  Goody could insert into a semi permanent almost full time role in the mid field but chooses not to.

I cant believe how many people forgive and accept Petracca's faults. He is uncoachable. He cannot concentrate. He NEVER comes through when the going is tough, although trying hard, he is stupid and trying to do too much. He falls immediately to old bad habits.

He isn't as bad as that sorry.  Not having a great year but has a fair amount of company.  See T-mac, Viney and Spargo just to name a few.

I actually feel like Demonland, and the supporters, go pretty hard on him. I also think you’re going too hard on him...

A little but he has regressed this season  WISE.  Some scrutiny is bound to follow.

Our entire forward line has barely fired a shot all year, what are you going to do drop everyone?

That is a very good question Sisso.

There are a few options available but goody has chosen to ignore them so far.

Problem with that is that no one that we could choose from would be a better option for his role. I’ve been ok with Tracs year so far in a forgettable season for all except Maxy Gawn.

I agree to a point at least from a Casey perspective.  However, if Goody was / is being realistic now that the season is over, it is now time to trial Tracc in a role which leans more towards full time through the mid field IMO.  Takes pressure off his kicking inside 50 but allows him to swing away at the big stuff around the arc where he has nothing to lose and just let's it rip without over thinking things.

Time for chunk to replace Tracc at HF in an Ablett type role (with some minor time through mid field when Tracc is taking a breather on the bench or when resting forward).

And with a chance,  for a Sam Walsh type player.

You can say that again which is another good reason why Pruess should be getting more game time.  At least he might string a series of games together and start gelling with the other forwards.

Smith confirmed out with a flu. Wonder if the club knew yesterday they would have been better off pulling Pruess out of the VFL game.

What's the fascination with Preuss @dazzledavey36?  Surely he would be selected if they felt he could contribute for the entire game, so if they're not selecting him, I would assume they know that he can't?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
