Nothing better than missing finals AND a top draft pick.

Or a possible two top draft picks,  'J'...

If we perhaps traded a top 5 Pick,  for two 1st Rnd picks ???  then it would bite us.

Anyway its time we won a free agent...  from GWS.

Side looks good on paper and the names there makes me feel as if we are in with a chance. Great to be playing in the big stage on Queens birthday almost as good as a final. It might give us a sniff of what's  to  coming.

I just might be the start of stringing some wins to give us some belief.  I am hoping.

Don’t get me wrong nothing would please me more than us making the 8, but the chances are so low that I prefer we get a decent pick and regroup for next season with a healthy list and win the flag.

I still believe our list is good enough to win a flag... if we can keep it healthy and get our game plan right.

Does May go to De Goey? How do people see the match ups?

I love the attitude... [censored] picks. I just want wins, if that means 9th place finish with pick 10 as apposed to a pick 3 I really don't care. We can just draft another Christian Salem rather than a toumpass

T Mac to kick 7 this week.

Kicked 6 in the corresponding game last year. No reason he can't better that.

I’ll give you one reason... FORM!

So do I...  but we do not have the players on the list to do just that,  yet...   our players have fallen backwards since last year.

Namely..........

Viney is not he player he was physically...  and I don't think he will recover.

Jones is getting beyond it,  sooner than I imagined.

TMc looks jiggered, physically

Weide isn't ready to carry the forwardline yet.

Oli hasn't progressed this year. with his disposal going off.

Brayshw same,  getting the ball, but butchering his delivery.

Hannan has a chronic knee,  and is a temp player at best,  from here on in.

Gawn is already 27, is at his peak now and another 2 Yrs and he will start to slide.

May is 27 now.

Lever has had two Reco's on the one knee.

Jetta is 29 now & is feeling the pinch

AVB is chronic with his foot

Petracca lacks the necessary dedication

....  and after all this,  your more interested in some sort of 2019 status,  to brag or some such ( feel good for 5 minutes ),  rather than get the best picks/young players,  we can muster out of this shambles of a season.?

Yes...and I'll tell you why

Lever will be back better than ever

27 is the new 22

AVB has hardly been in any long term planning for 3 years

Jetta - rest will do him good

Jones needs to be transitioned gently and respectfully

Hannan has played 6 good games

TMac is fine - it's the midfield

Clayton Oliver - are you serious?

Brayshaw needs to be in the guts

Viney is Viney - he'll never play 100%

Trac - can play, but needs fun and relationships

Eff the draft

Huge ins.   Call me crazy but if we beat the Pies I am not giving up on finals.   But this is our last chance.

Definitely LAST chance

May looked really quick last week for Casey, especially off the mark. He might keep up with JDG for pace from what I saw. It all depends whether both Reid and the beanpole play I guess.

Yes, but out of all of the sides you want to see Melbourne beat, it is Collingwood. Losing to them and putting up with their feral supporters is a pain in the proverbial. PLEASE PLEASE WIN BOYS !! For my sanity.

My goodness, looking at Jack Watts on the front of the Herald Sun before his first game on the Queen's Birthday was a shock. He and his classmates look like 12 year olds. He was a baby thrown to the wolves.

He was, but he also had good form in the vfl leading up to his debut

He had actually earned it

Demonland pre-game articles by @Whispering_Jack are among the most brilliant writings in any sport media. “Scream” v WC deserves some kind of sports literary award.

I’m a great fan of @The Oracle also and @george_on_the_outer on the post game, consoles my wounded pride at being a Dee.

I’m sure it’s been said before... but the considerable work and passion is much appreciated, I’m sure by all.

We will lose this but beat them later in the season. Too many changes but under the circumstances probably necessary and it will take a couple of weeks to get it right.

Good to see Neale fighting on. Hope he keeps going for many years to come, and a cure is found for MND. His efforts have enabled much needed help to be given to sufferers while waiting for the breakthrough. Hopefully it comes soon for them and their families.

I agree May is quick but De Goey turns players inside out for fun

Yes,  I have a few sides I don't like,  Blues, Bummers.   After them, maybe the [censored] Eagles...

I don't want to throw games and at the same time i don't want to climb the ladder either at this stage.  Do I want form... yes,  i want us to play well.

But I'm in no doubt that we are out on a ledge, as a club...  and our list is fragile.  We as a club could be easily taken out,  Via a small avalanche or land slip.

We need more talent added,  to build on the platform we've built to this point...  or we could just dehydrate in the weather,  as others go past us on talent scale... leaving us nowhere again.

People here last year, were saying we have the best midfield...  the best ruck...  the best I don't know what.  but we do not....

we have one of the best rucks,

We have some excellent Mids, Oli, Harmes, Brayshaw............  but as many have not climbed up, or have dropped off.  Tracca,  Viney,  Jones,  AVB,  ANB,  Stretch,  Maynard,

We really need more influx of talent...  and not the 2nd or 3rd dibs choices.

From this position we've found ourselves in this year,  we have to make the most of this position,  where we need it. On our list...   Or our future years will be whittled away making up numbers on the ladder.

No, he did not earn it...

I was there every match,  watching specifically him,  hoping he would get the call...   and he did not earn his call up.

He had only just started to show one or two little cameos in a game,  and went unnoticed much of the vfl games.

He was played in the QB game as a marketing exercise,  for the turnstiles and the memberships.

Which would make last week so damn frustrating. Could have been potentially 5-7 with an easier month coming up.

I was thinking Frost could go with him for pace, but not for smarts.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
