Sorry, but that doesn't make sense. Or at least doesn't to me.

I am very much looking forward to Joel Smith returning from injury. I think he will be come a very good addition to our side if he can stay fit.

But i (and i assume others who share that sentiment) am not suggesting Smith's availability is a prerequisite for success in 2020. I think it will help but that's just hunch.

Smith may not even end up being in our best 22, might do or may not shake the injury curse. Whatever the situation ends up being with Smith, i'm still confident of making finals in 2020.

Pretty easy to make sense of - you think he has AFL qualities, and I don't.  Not sure why the confusion.

I feel the same way about Smith as I do both Wagners.  If they play regular senior footy in 2020, we're clearly bottom 4 material again.

Binman, you really need to raise your standards.

I am in the edge with Smith. Think it may come down to coaching and finding a position. Its no good tying a whole lot of positions for someone who has come to the game late in life. Keep it simple. Backline-spoil. Forward line-strong leads,go for your marks, bring ball to ground. Work hard on kicking skills.

Read the article instead of making ill informed, superficial comments. He and his docs would have a better knowledge of his condition than you. Pull your head in (again).

Joel developed OP, one of the few 'injuries' that takes a while to manifest itself fully

If 2 posts on Instagram of him doing gym sessions is anything to go by Joel should be ready for Day 1 pre season

It doesn't.

Plus I can't see any pictures on his insta from the gym

Where is the article you reference talking about the condition that causes him to fight his mates Moon

Mate if you watched Insight last night you would realize  it is a very complicated case. The bloke nearly jumped in front of a train at richmond station FFS. The multiple concussions have changed his whole personality. Fighting with friends is just one small part of it.

looked much better up forward than down back. Could be a difficult match up as a third tall.

Where does Smith fit?

Defensive forward, if he's going to make it.

Just to be clear, are you talking Joel or Shaun Smith.

The article is from the show last night. Shaun smith, Barnes  and a couple  of rugby players who are fu,,,ed up due to concussion.

Cheers, Yeah ok. I was commenting on Joel Smith, as per thread until it crossed to Shauns case. apologies, yes a complicated one for Shaun.

Read the article. Look for the Shaun Smith concussion thread. It's not hard. The article is about his concussions and the depression he thinks resulted from it. Try not to reveal too much ignorance in your responses to it. Or watch Insight (you know, that SBS channel you usually only stop at if it's raunchy).

FMD. I give up, I've had enough .

Here's the thing: I'm putting you on ignore. Please DO NOT reply to me ever again and I will continue to ignore you. Better still, put me on ignore as well. If 'Land had 'ignore in quotes' button I'd hit it too. Please god let this happen soon!

Do not respond to this post. I will not read it. You would be responding to no one.

I see the irony in this being partly about depression with my post.

Sorry to disappoint you chazz.

But your initial comment still doesn't make sense.

In that comment you imply a correlation between looking forward to Joel Smith playing and our chances of success in 2020. No such correlation exists and no one has suggested it does. Except you.

Your above explanation (ie we dont agree on his ability) is a completely different point.

Demnonlanders could you do me a favour and keep an eye on Moonshadow. He is not himself lately. The way he is carrying on you would like I was Inspector Clouseau and just took his job. One minute he is telling me to pull my head in in anger, second warning, the next he is praying to God for help. Poor soul. Anyone know if he goes to Goschs Paddock for training?

That’s assuming Weed will play. It will be interesting to see how he looks in the preseason.

Fair point. But I think they are playing different roles. Smith is more s defensive forward.

He posted them in his story at the top  video vision to show him doing the gym work   try looking there

The Shaun Smith reminds me of the movie Concussion starred by Will Smith. If anyone has seen it you would know it's a brilliant but yet scary reality about the after effects of concussion in the NFL. It seems like it's having an effect on former players like Greg Williams, John Barnes and Shaun Smith.

And my old man thinks I should play in the ruck.

His tackling as a burst off the mark seems to be his best trait. If he can land some tackles, keep the ball inside 50 and kick 20 goals for the year, he'll be a player. Let's see.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
