I think as his confidence has suffered he’s stopped ‘doing the work’ that it sounds like he was back to doing today

I still reckon our best forward structure can accommodate him, Preuss and T Mac all together

I think it's only 2 of them 'what'...Weid and either Tommy or Preuss.

Tom Sparrow was good in the contest.   Let him develop some more this year in Casey but I think we have a player on our hands. Likes the contest.

what's his ability outside the hurly-burly like at a lower level?

does he also show the ability to break away from the contest with pace?

Who chooses the 'best' players for the VFL games?

People here are saying Weid was great and will play vs Gold Coast, yet he wasnt in the listed best players.

It was just KC who made the bold statement

Weid was named 3rd best on the club website.

Oscar Baker was name 2nd best , which is very encouraging.

Bedford & Chandler - 10 touches & 4 tackles between them. I find it extraordinary that we can't find some decent crumbing forwards who can apply some defensive pressure occasionally.

Yes, they are young and inexperienced, but that type of player is not really reliant on developing size and strength. Either they have the work rate and ability to read the play or they don't.

Weideman played well (I thought). Presented well and besides Mitch White was our only forward option. If he had held most of his marks that he went for we would be talking about him dominating the game. Got his hands to marks many times but just couldn't quite hold them. May come back in but another solid game with Casey should really boost his confidence.  Spargo was good and was a link player with short kicks to position  but probably didn't do enough for his ability. Baker is returning to some of the good form he showed last year prior to injury. Petty continues to impress. Corey wagner busted his gut all game and continues to press for higher honours, but will probably only get selected if another midfielder is injured. Sparrow the best of our young players and Jordan looks good. Both Chandler and Bedford struggle to get into the game.

Next weeks game is against the Bombers at Windy Hill. Saturday 2:10pm

Have not been to that ground for almost fifty years.

If the weather's okay I may drop along. $5 for MFC members.

Well done Weeds.  Took the hit and went back and worked hard.  I like the 20+ touches and 8 marks more than the goals.  showed he worked hard.  it will be interesting to see who will be up fwd out of Keilty, Preuss and Weed.  T Mac took a couple of marks in the 3rd Q thank god so he should be safe

I think his work rate has been good at AFL level, just was dropping a few marks that he will take as he matures.  His buddy up forward is lucky he has a few credits in the bank, if McDonald was is half decent nick it would take pressure of Weiderman.  He will be good just needs to start holding his marks

I think the club knows what we've got with Weide...

But I sense we want to see some more of Keilty.  so I reckon Keilty stays in.

... and Weide I think will get another game as the number 1 forward with Casey this week.

I reckon Weide will come back in fresh,  for the bigger games,  against the Eagles and Giants.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
