They just seem to get it right more times than others, yet the MFC get it wrong most times!

It’s player development as well of course but they know what they’re doing re recruitment. No-one’s perfect but Clarkson’s as close to a footballing oracle as there has been in this business over the past twenty years.

The hawks can have him, we need tall fast guys, with have enough slow blokes,

666 has changed the game, Melbourne, North Melbourne and the Hawks are being hurt the most for not adapting and sticking with the inside bulls.

WGAF about the Brownlow? So you think he was the 3rd best player in the comp last year?

Ahhhhh, the penny drops. Thanks Dazzle.

And I thought multiple profiles was against Demonland rules ?

He's pretty much A grade IMO. He certainly was by the second half of last year.

Yeah I watch the game thanks for asking.

We’ve got:

Clarry

Gus

Viney

Harnes

Petracca

Salem

Hunt

3 A Graders there too with potential of 2 more and our sights set on who knows.

Your point?

I A grader.

Salem might get there, but no other on that list will.

A couple closer to c grader than A grade.

And one who is C grade.

And only one can reliably hit a target. And he plays on the hb so does not kick it inside 50.

For a negative nellie you are remarkably unrealisticly positive in your assessment of those players.3 A graders and the potential of 2 more? Sheesh.

People having a go at the club for getting Lever who ends up doing a knee again.

I can only imagine if Patton come over & done a knee!

People are not having a go at the club for getting Lever.

Only the fact that we payed too highly...  we folded,  instead of holding our line,  of One 1st Rnd Pick,  plus something else.

Giving up TWO 1st Rnd picks is the problem in that deal.

We could have taken a running centreline player,  with that pick.

Agree DV8. We were far too acquiescent and accommodating on the Lever trade. Would a Gubby Allen or Dodoro have coughed up TWO first rounders for an intercept marking defender? Very much doubt it. For a Treloar or a Shiel sure but not for anything else than a bonafide midfield A grader or 60+ goal a year full forward. Always irked me how quickly Mahoney and Co caved to a petulant Brett Burton on that deal. We were too nice and we’re paying for it now with opportunities missed to fill important holes in the list. Nothing at all to do with Lever’s injury, bad luck happens. But so does good luck when you play the chess game at trade week properly. Typically, we didn’t.

Those two 1st rounders for Lever ended up being Lochie O'Brien and Liam Stocker. "Who?" I hear you say.

In the long run, I'm ok with that.

Yes. If the Hawks are into him, he has already committed to them. It's almost as if the Hawks modus operandi is to instruct a player to get injured, pick him up cheap, then turn him into a gun.

That is true ----- a good method that seems to work for the Hawks. However, I am a little suspect of Patton regarding his fitness since the injury - I'd reckon at first glance that he will be down for some time on a shaky recovery.

Crazy statement. It wasn’t about selecting two quality youngsters instead of Lever. It was about forcing Adelaide’s hand to accept one first round pick for him instead of two. Had we done that we would’ve got Lever AND had a pick in the first round of last year’s super draft. We could have potentially added the next Luke Shuey, Isaac Smith or Liam Ryan to our list - all players drafted in the latter part of the first round. And who’s to say Lochie OBrien or Liam Stocker won’t end up fantastic 150+ game players for the Blues, who’s list is already looking uncomfortably more well rounded than ours.

You might be okay with that but I and I would suggest many others are not. Caved too early during trade week and are now paying the price.

More powerful talls? Nup, their spine is already better than ours.

Plowman/Jones - Weitering - Cripps - Curnow - McKay

... and their midfield is for sure a work in progress but Cripps, Dow, SPS, Walsh as a core has plenty of potential.

They will be knocking on the door if the eight in 24 months, particularly if they can land the big midfield fish they keep hunting.

We can too, but we desperately need a KPF. A gorilla. A ‘spine straightener’. Hello The General Jonno Patton.

I wouldn't give two 1st Rnd picks for Shiel or Treloar either,  on today's thinking.

I would struggle even with Danger,  when he was traded.

Cameron maybe... possibly Kely. still think Two 1st Rnd picks is too high.

For Lever one 1St Rnd pick,  maybe a late 2nd,  Or 3rd Rnd pick,  should have been enough...  or we play hardball other ways to get the player.

Can't agree with your assessment of Shiel and Treloar DV8. Shiel is bordering on being a top 10 player in the competition. Plenty would have him in there including me. Absolutely torched us three weeks ago. Treloar is not far behind him. Both sensational players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
