Bumping this back on the agenda.. like we didnt review teh PF loss, it feels like Petracca has been allowed to get away with poor Set shot goal kicking for 3 years now.  Is anyone addressing this... probably not because we lack that much professionalism its not funny.

Why do so many people believe we didn't review the Preliminary Final loss? Surely we all know by now that everyone in the AFL system doesn't always tell the truth. (To put it more bluntly, everyone in the AFL lies.) Just because it has been said, doesn't make it so.

There is absolutely no reason though to lie about it.. why would you say we didn't review it if we did review it..

Its truly bizarre and the club has been nothing more than a mess since the PF loss.

Appreciate the succinct analysis @Dee Zephyr

Not a poor summation, at all. Well done DZ.

Not just his kicking... I think he has been let off most things.  Just look as his condition,  after all these seasons.

We've allowed him to be amateur like in almost every way seemingly.

What has he developed in his time with us,  apart from getting heavier ?

Appears limited as a footballer.. on another note, he can dunk and has a killer cross over dribble!

I think he's got the talent inside him,  but I think he's possibly immature...  just a boy still,  in his ways.

I think his commitment and endeavor is limited at the moment.

Dare I say,  he might be one of those who responds after a big personal loss...  like getting shifted on.      See the antithesis... Re Lockhart,  who has had to work and work,

to prove he's worthy.

Ii hope that is not what it takes.

There are any number of reasons why they might publically say they didn't review that game when in fact they had. And much nuance in rhe statement the club did not review it.

Apply some intelligence and thought to it and you will work out what those reasons might be and what the nuances might be.

Do you have the stats to back this up or is the 'bump' of this thread another way of beating up on him?

Enlighten me binman please?  Why would a team say they did not review a game that was an unmitigated disaster, They then open themselves up to severe criticism from others saying that they were derelict in there duties not to perform a review. It makes the club look weak, unorganised and unprofessional...  which is a coincidence because thats what it appears like we have been for a majority of this year.

For starters, this is a knock on the club, so just relax, and no i dont have stats, i have perfectly good eyes though that suggest he is a wreck with the ball in hand from about 30ms out and closer and its getting worse.

I suppose you will take an alternate view just to be different?

'Nuances'...  would have been that the club already new well prior to finals that We would need to tweak the gamestyle,  looking to 2019...    but simply don't have the players required to push the new game style,  Yet....   running with kicking skills.

I want to put it out there,  that at early stages of last year,  word was we were after Gaff...   but something changed around mid season,    (ANB & Harmes ???),   and all that talk dried up and then we started to look to a big Defender....  and we went for speed in the draft... small types, plus & a Mid with some speed.

Now it seems,  we Have to get those run and carry types of players to add to our mix...  so any changes to gamestyle can be carried out.

So the coaches would have reviewed over and over that game but just not the players as we were going to change things anyway.

They wouldn't want to reinforce any negatives into our players heads Re that game... as the clubs culture is still malleable and forming,  like new bone.

They culture of winning is not set hard,  and will take quite awhile.   We only started  'winning-ways',  in the back half of last year.

So Our culture is still forming and still growing...  and will take some years until we get it anywhere near,  say the Hawks culture and club self-belief.

We have a long way to go.

... Just as the Hawks did... back in the 70's...    They came from perennial losers...  grew into a family club,  and proud Winners.   a Very Happy team.

You obviously took no time to try and apply some logic to the question. Give it a go.

If its a knock on the club why zero in on Petracca to say the club is unprofessional.  Numerous players are struggling this year.

I don't take an alternate view 'just to be different'.  My view regarding the 'Bump' post:  The club has not been unprofessional in its management of Petracca as there is no evidence to support that claim.

Just for the record in 2017 he kicked 26.6.

Says a lot about the world we live in. We are dumbing down at an alarming rate.

But fear not you are well and truly not alone. It appears to me the majority of people can't - or more likely simply can't be bothered- apply logic or intelligence to issues.

Much easier to throw some wacko comment our there and expect people to react to said comment and then bat it back and forward.

I feel old.

Trac is a very poor set shot for goal.  he is also terrible snap for goal.  maybe his skills are just poor??  the only time he looks good is when he bangs it on his boot long and straight.

Trac has a combination of average foot skills and a weak mentality. To blame coaching when Harmes, Oliver, Gus etc. thrive is ridiculous

For the record, Oliver is not Thriving, Gus is treading water and Harmes has always had good skills, Take your ridiculous else where.

You are old and the only people lacking intelligence is the geniuses at the club that went public with the no review line.

You speak in riddles Binamn, and its really boring.

2017 is along time ago.. just for the record.

Pettraca was 2 straight kicks away from being the best forward on the ground. His finishing is extraordinarily frustrating. But he is far from our biggest problem.

I'd like to see some more improvement Infront of the sticks but in every other way he has improved this year. He is involved in games longer, his defencive pressure is up and he is elite at ground level. He needs to be greedier sometimes but I think that stems from his troubles finishing. Case and point him trying to handball that shocker of a miss

And side note anyone who continues to push this myth that he is overweight is insane.

Your post said the last 3 years.  Last time I looked 2017 was a bare 18 months ago...

Anyway, I can see that you aren't interested in facts so I am not going to bother with this any longer.

Thank God, i would much rather converse with people on here that are not just trying to point score and have a fight for the sake of it.

I'm also old but here is one possible reason the club may have publicly said the PF wasn't reviewed (even if they did do it).  They may have wanted to make the point that the poor play was so unlike our usual style that nothing could be learnt on what needed tweaking from that performance.    For example, they might know the players were absolutely buggered by the many previous do-or-die games or that a radically different plan was required for 2019, so no point in looking for problems with the old one.    And when this year came around, doing the latter was blighted by surgeries, fitness and injuries as well as poor form from good players.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
