May setback + Jetta knee injury (8-10 weeks)

Featured Replies

Been reported on the Channel 7 pre-game today that May has had a major set back with his groin injury and will most likely not be back till July.

How the hell can you be missing for 12+ weeks with a groin injury?

I'm loathed to speculate with innuendo, but I can't help myself here. Is there more to this injury than meets the eye?

I was all for recruiting Lever and May, but given what we've paid for them, and their output on field, it's a diabolic fail thus far. At least, Lever turned up to training with professional standards, but WTF is happening with May?

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Hahah what an absolute joke...

3 first round draft picks for May and Lever..

No wonder Gold Coast were laughing to the bank when they got rid of May and KK for pick 6.

This thread is about to ignite. Jetta hurt himself against the Saints? Most saw him struggling prior.

What’s up with Jetta?

It's pretty significant to go from limping around for most of the game (he didn't look fit from the outset) to an 8-10 week injury.

Are we managing players here? It seems pretty incredible.

Oh and Dave Misson can just GTFO out now. Joel Smith, Steven May and then giving Jetta the all clear to play when CLEARLY he was completely underdone and hindered.

Re Jetta - it happened when a saints player dived across his knee. Was a missed free kick and I thought the whole point of bringing in the rule to begin with.

Obviously May turned up to the club out-of-shape and was playing catch-up through the preseason. It seems as though he is paying for this now.

However, the current state of the List reeks of mismanagement over summer. Players struggling after surgery, a general lack of fitness, and, most damningly, playing whilst injured both during JLT and the early rounds is either a complete breakdown in the football department or desperation from a coaching staff that is telling supporters it's a long season.

WTF is going on?!

And the good news just keeps on coming.

Hopefully we can snare a speedy player with pic 1

What a litany of poor management starting from recruiting May when he was so unfit to the poor handling of Joel Smith now playing Jetta when he was lame. Heads need to roll. We are rank amateurs with emphasis on the rank.

Also, [censored] happens.

If I were Goody I'd be looking, firstly, at bringing Petty into the side.  If May is out long term, and Lever isn't due back for 5-6 at least, then it's time to see if this kid is up to it.  His form hasn't been too bad and he can't do any worse than Oscar has.

Josh Wagner might also get an extended run, while we know Jay Lockhart can play down there as well.

I'm annoyed, but I'd rather look at what we can get out of it than moaning about it.

Yep. While bad for Nev, he hasn't been right all year. Get his knee fixed, then set him up for pre-season (can't believe I'm saying that...)

May is the bigger concern. We paid a lot for him and he hasn't delivered yet.

The recruiting of May is poor management?? What because he is injured? What a stupid comment.

Clearly Tanking

No we are paying not May.

Be prepared for this comment re: his recruitment to be littered throughout the thread.

While May was unprofessional with the way in which he approached pre-season, and I'm willing to give him a little leeway as he came from the worst club in the comp, we can't judge this deal until he retires.  Moaning about the deal just because it's hit a roadblock early in the piece isn't solving anything.

We know the bloke can play.  If he is part of a premiership side, with Lever right beside him, then I'll be a happy man.  I'm judging it on that.

Our trade table returns are looking a tad lean. I hope for the clubs sake there are some performance benchmarks in Lever and May's contracts.

If Jetta is out for 10 weeks it's pretty much worth sitting him out for the season.

Hopefully now you can see Misson is [censored] terrible, AF.

Soft tissue injuries are more likely to happen to those suddenly increasing their load from a poor fitness base. Don’t label anyone who disagrees with you stupid.

How people can still deny that Misson has been nothing but a disaster for the MFC baffles me.  Should have gone years ago.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
