We can drop 4 more games and make the finals.

right now can anyone see us even winning 4?

such a waste of a year.

I suspect we will win between 6 and 10 games. We're not that bad.

The challenge is to use this wasted season to prepare for the next. It is so apparent that the gameplan is flawed and that it is not getting the best out of what is a reasonable if not good list.

We're not alone in strange game plans. The playing of Caleb Daniels at full back for the Bulldogs by Beveridge has to rank as number 1in the contrarian gameplan world.

This year is done and dusted.

The only good news is we have a good list that dominated last year.

We will get back key defenders and hopefully get rid of those nqr players .

Its a huge kick in the guts but all we can do is aim for 2020.

Damn it.

When you don't make the finals you rebuild. Hopefully it's only a short rebuild. We have to be aggressive at the draft and trade period.

Top 10 untouchables: Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw, Gawn, Harmes, T.McDonald, May, Lever, Salem, Melksham.

The rest up for trade. Anderson will be good on our wing ATM.

Hasnt had a great year but Jetta must have another 3 years as a keeper.

well if it hadn't started on Saturday 2020 certainly started today with the news on May and Jetta.

Realistically there is not much at Casey even in the depth department. To play the likes of Baker and Keilty now may be attractive but don't expect much especially if its done without change to the gameplan.

The club cannot afford a 186 against Richmond... the near 100 point defeat by Geelong was bad enough.

Not again. I’m really not ready for another rebuild

Sadly swyl you probably don't have any choice. And we have plenty of practice at surviving them as supporters this is familiar ground. Besides what is the alternative? Leave the fold? It won't happen so chin up and accept the inevitable.

Well a belting is coming DJ. It is simple, we have too many VFL talents in the team at present. If the defeat is less than ten goals I will be amazed.

Jkh delisted

Lewis retired

Vandenburg - a complete body rebuild

With our lack of small forwards JKH could stay.

Lewis is obvious.

Vandenberg is a concern.

Jones has to retire.

Casboult as a free agent, kicked 3 on the weekend but can't get a game due to McGovern, Curnow and McKay and will allow T.Mac to play down back.

Dont sweat it lads.

We are a destination club remember.

Where we are going God only knows.

Some serious recruitment in order in the form pf a couple of AA crumbers. A star ff to replace Hogan.  Some speedy wingers and replacements for Jones and Lewis.

Plenty of other farewells need to be made if we want to taste victory again including Jkh..Anb...Garlett...Spargo... j.Wagner...to start with.

It beggars belief we are not mentioned in any race for Coniglio.. he is the star we need, i understand it might be heard to get him.. but lets get creative.. would you trade petracca?

Get rid of:

Lewis Ret / Jones Ret / Stretch / JKH / ANB / Maynard / J wagner - thats 7 delistings. And some big money free'd up.

Might be scraping the bottom of the barrel now, but JKH wouldn’t be the worst choice on a wing right now. He was highlighted many times late last year for his two-way running and doing the ‘Team’ thing, something that’s clearly missing right now.

Hard to play when you can't run because of injury. Did you not know that?

Of course I did, apologies for leaving out the if he was available. That’s the problem, even some marginal depth players aren’t available and he would be playing imo right now if fit to try and save his career.

If we got a really decent first round pick for him,, & it frees up enough cash to get Coniglio as a FA then 100% yes I would trade Trac.

Yeah i agree, I love Trac and he seems like a great kid, but he also seems like the only expendable talent we have on the list.

.... expendable... he's our only forward at present and that's not saying much.

Need to rethink the gameplan and see if you can spark it up with say a Preuss and Garlett combo. Also need to work on our goal kicking from 50 metre set shots. We are as many have said, just simply too predictable

Why would Coniglio come to us we are on the bottom of the ladder.

yeah i agree with what you say DJ, but by expendable i mean a talent that might recoup a high pick..

Why did Shiel go to Essendon a club who hasn't won a final in nearly 6000 days..

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
