You're a funny bloke.

You carry on about Hore, repeatedly denigrating him as though you think people need to be told something 20 times, because once won't do, and you now lord the Wagners, who are average depth players at best.

You must have missed my post where i said i am happy Hore shoved it right back at my face and lauded his performance. I will pot players when it's there, but i will also be the first to put my hand up when they play an exceptional game.

Again, not sure why have to repeat myself, but i will. The Wagners are depth i agree, but right thats all we've got, they played their role tonight and played it well.

Once we get Lewis, Lever, Jetta and May back Josh goes back to Casey, same as Hore.

If Garlett and Spargo both get some form together then Corey goes back to Casey.

This is the only thread I've read since the game finished.

It's more that you have to say the same thing ad nauseum.  It's tedious.

Fair enough then.

I think Josh needs to clean up his 1v1 work and tackling.

Heeney out bodied him to come in and mark in the forward line over the melbourne player who was lose - if he keeps heeney out we have an uncontested mark.

The high tackle and free-kick goal in the first quarter (i think) - he knew he tackled him poorly and hopefully goes lower next time.

As both were in the backline they stick out & i hate those sort of errors. I haven't seen enough of corey to make an opinion of him as yet.

This list is incomplete without former Melbourne great Steven Armstrong

I believe it's a Demonland rule that his name be raised in any discussion of undeserving premiership players.

mmmm, check mate there @Mega_Watts...

Josh will have to do a lot to win me over after the last couple of years... seems more of an athlete than a footballer.  Very happy for him to prove me wrong.

I see a bit more potential in Corey.  He’s a bit ungainly at times, but he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time and things tend to ‘happen’ when he gets involved.

Corey is a step down from Hannan, who I rate very highly.  There’s a spot for him in the team TIL hannan is back- hopefully he can make the most of it.

Josh may never be a star but in his first few games in 2017, he showed grit, determination, guts and a willingness to take the game on that suggested he could develop into a good defender.

I prefer Josh over Corey but the two are tough hard players who relish the contest.

I prefer players like the Wagners and Spargo who have a real crack every week over others who go missing in action.

They may be depth but they are important depth.

Agreed  'Hem', and Josh gives us more mobility than we've had down back,  of late.   We were better on our feet in defence last night... actually more mobile across the ground, generally.

I echo what others have said about Josh. Had a really strong start to 2017 and has been unlucky not to play more senior games due to depth at his position. I think he's going to be important this year with Lewis potentially coming in and out (I think he will be rested). He doesn't have the experience and composure as Lewis but he does use the ball well when he's playing with confidence and competes well for his height as a third tall down back or higher HB. Can release guys like Hibberd and Jetta.

I think Josh could potentially be best 22 if he can have a consistent run at it. Obviously there's guys ahead of him at his position (Hibberd, Fritsch and maybe Hore). Main thing he needs to work on still as others have noted is his one on one body work. He's decent spoiling a contest when he gets a run at it but needs to use his body better one on one.

Wow. I can’t wait for both of them to be out of the side. We won’t beat a top-10 side while they’re in ours.

Josh Wagner is my least favourite player on our list, and I cringe whenever I see his name on the team list.

watched the game 3 times now, and thought it was maybe his bet game in our colours. Hard at it, good decisions (normally his biggest weakness), and very solid disposal.

Not at all a candidate for being dropped based on that effort.

Can you fit the Flower brothers somewhere? Imagine if Robbie's bro was half as good as him they'd top the list.

We’ve had a lot of brother pairs over the years, Healy, Stynes, Viney, Cockatoo-Collins, McDonald (A and J) just off the top of my head. I’d love to know how many games each set played together. I’m guessing the order will be something like:

Febey

Healy

McDonald A&J

McDonald T&O

Viney

Flower

Stynes

Cockatoo-Collins

Wagner

@Supermercado?

The Wagners will almost certainly pass the Cockatoo-Collins score of 1 game together and equal the Stynes score of 2 next week.

I'd say you've just about nailed it,  maybe the Healy bro's swap with McDonald A n J??

Healys only played together 2 years and Greg missed a fair bit early in his career!

I think you’re right. I reckon Healys go below Tom and Oscar too. Oscar’s played 65 games, the majority of which would have been with Tom. Anthony and James McDonald debuted in the same year and were both regulars in the side from then on, but Anthony only played 100 games.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
