Only the AFL would think it good practice to run the flagship female competition of a winter sport in the hottest part of the day through the hottest part of the year. Whilst some of the players would be considered elite athletes, a number are very young or in lesser condition. Surely there are OH&S issues in play here.

I was at Casey Fields for a kids clinic a couple of weeks ago on a mid-20s day and it was seriously hot there. There is no shade and most likely no breeze. It will be a furnace on Sunday. Good luck to the players and those who are keen enough to attend.

Jakobsson forward threw me a little as with paxman in the backline. I actually like the womens game even if the skills are some what lacking but I can't question the endevour they show when playing.

Well done to those braving the sizzle factor today.

Looking forward to watch the match on TV here in the west.  The game last night was of two very different standards.  Pies didn't look good against a very young and new side.  The other game was much better in skill.

Send ‘The Doctor’ over 72. Not sure what kind of spectacle we’ll get today, especially if the wind matches the heat.

The AFL must have a valid reason for not scheduling a Friday night fixture on opening round.

I'll be doing the same in Canberra '72.

I actually thought the standard of Bulldogs vs Crows last night was a significant notch up on anything I've seen previously in AFLW.  I hope our girls can match it!

Now while I did not watch but  They scored three goals between them for the entire match, seems like the saga of ladies games continues to me.

I did however watch the second half of the Cats / Pies game and it was crap. Just a series of scrums up and down the ground with the occasional kick going 40 meters. Those two teams have a very long way to go before you could call it a entertaining sporting event.
