A short sharp craft session followed by a run around the tan for some

Preuss continues to impress,  if he can translate what I see on the training track to games, he will be an asset, still have not seen him miss a kick, there was a short kick to him that dropped short, thought he would let it go but he scooped it up off the ground and nailed his kick going the other way

Got some good pics of him and Gawny doing one on one

Craft all about quick ball movement

A few of the rehabbers joined session today, all the Hs, Harmes, Hunt, Hore, Tim Smith

Jetta, Petracca, Oliver were still in 'rehab'group

Melksham and Baker did a boxing session, as per the photo, got a bit willing a couple of times, fun to watch

They are trying to fast track Bradtke, Stafford put him through a brutal half an hour at the end of the session

A pleasing sight is Bernie Vince bouncing around, big smile on the dial

Thanks for the report. Excited about Preuss. Could be the missing link we have been in desperate need of.

Brayshaw?

There were a few 'missing', don't bother asking any more

I've heard from a North supporter that Pruess is as slow as a wet week.  any idea if the big man can move?

Does the rock of Gibraltar move very fast?  Stand in forward line.  Mark the ball.  Kick the goal.  Easy Peasy...!

Essential stuff, Mr Vagg, well nailed. That is going to be his big asset, at FFwd and then, back-up to Maxxy. The Weed can ruck on the fwd line, as can Gawny. Rotation, rotation: Gawn, Weed, Preusse/

I'm so much more excited holding out unfounded hope for Braydon than I have been for that Dyson bloke the past couple years.

I've now lowered my expectations on Preuss.

Why? All reports about him so far have been extremely positive even the non-rose coloured reports. Sure it's pre-season training and everyone's up and about and training the house down but he could does fill a necessary hole for us and looks capable. Proof will be in the pudding. I'm certainly looking forward to the JLT series to see what he can do. Hopefully he'll make the cut for Round 1 and from there we'll see.

Supporters of opposition clubs always use some way to justify their club allowing players to go.  Bomber supporters said the same about Melksham to feel good about their team letting a player go.

Re Bruiser.

From the one bit of vision, he can tap, mark, kick goals and make second efforts. And that is when he is standing still.

Gets to lots of contests on the run and seems to have footy smarts. You don't kick goals from forward ruck contests or from 60+m out without some ability.

Speed is not the only valuable attribute. The ability to read the play so as to get to contests and to favourable positions are just as valuable, especially for a 206 ruckman.

Admittedly it is only one set of highlights but I say give him a go.

Ahh the old 'hasn't missed a kick at training'.

V good.

Better than the alternative.

Was this the last session of the year or will there be one on Friday? Can’t find anything on the club site.

There is a session on Friday at 9:30am at Gosch's Paddock.

I believe this is the last session before the Christmas/New Year break. I'm not sure when they returning.

My North supporting mate thinks Preuss could become a very handy player for us. (Emphasis could, as he is still young for a big man) he also reckons that most of the North supporters he talks to at games are sore losers and a holes?

Essendon supporting in laws were happy to see Melksham go as he was too inconsistent, Hibbo, they were gutted to lose. I feel we won both of those trades thou.

they way my bombers mate put it is 'you pay overs for melksham so you get hibberd for unders'

i can't believe the turnaround in milkshake since he became a forward; has been sensational

It's the last Wednesday Session of 2018. Are any Demonlanders there to report?

looks like a beautiful ball drop.

Certainly beautiful for the sponsors of the ball.

Not too high start point and control with the right hand onto the foot. Left hand extended for good balance.

His goal kicking action reminds me of Billy Bennett - straight, smooth ball drop and high follow through.

Like the tongue - maintains focus.

...or balance...?

(Yes, that was tongue in cheek!  LOL)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
