Brisbane Lions.

Tom Joyce. 1st year draftee.

James Madden. 1st year rookie listed.

Ridiculous.  They have a FULL LIST of 42 available players. No injury concerns.

From the in the mix bit on AFL.com:

Medical room: No new problems. In fact, Tom Cutler (foot) is expected to come back to the NEAFL, leaving just first-year player Tom Joyce on the injury list.

They obviously have a high performance department that’s on top of their game.

Really disappointed for J Smith, he looked good in pre-season, what a massive mistake putting him back on at Casey fields back in March,.

Except that it had no impact on what has kept him out for the year, OP. Which is an inflammation caused by overuse (i.e., over a long period of time). It isn't caused or even aggravated by anything that happens in a single afternoon on a footy field.

No, they're just lucky.

Yeah of course that is the reason, just like the tigers did in 2017 when with a full list to choose from they won their flag.

Hold on a second they had injuries in 2018 and even more in 2019. Their high performance team must of dropped off then.

The old two plus two equals five trick. That's the third time I've fallen for that this week.....

Lucky in that they've had minimal on field collision injuries.

They've barely had any soft tissue injury which would point to good management rather than good luck in that department.

Honestly now May is out for the season with his third hamstring, you gotta question why we keep bringing in under done players or players with a history of injuries to play in a dead season. An early pre season start for May would have been far more beneficial than playing today. He came to us unfit so make him work to fix that. We know he can play, we don’t know if we can play more than 2 matches in a row without getting injured.

Totally agree. Jetta was the same. Hannan before that. And what exactly has been the point of having Melksham hobble around the field over the past couple of weeks?

What would happem if we weren't able to field a healthy 22? Would the AFL force us to play an injured player, would we play one short, or would the AFL allow us to contract a VFL listed player that is not on an AFL list, e.g. When Essendon were banned due to their illegal systematic doping program.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
