The "Bell" factor is actually quite interesting. It will change things a bit. How ? who knows ,only he will bring a different agenda most likely to his clubs's table.

Christ some of you people are insufferable.

I merely wanted to give an indication that things are actually moving along, that this isn’t all just media speculation, meetings are happening and serious decisions are being made - i.e. this isn’t the Chris Judd saga where our name is thrown in there to add more interest, or one adventurous journo joined the dots based on little evidence, then the rest jumped onto a rumour to fill column inches.

But I’m not going to spill all the beans. You’ll find out when you find out.

Chris Judd was very keen to join the Demons until his second meeting with the footy department took place in a small portable.

Incorrect he had committed to Carlton nearly a year earlier.

He used us and a couple of other clubs to pretend he hadn't decided where he was going. That way it didn't look as much like he was poached by Carlton and would keep the price down and make negotiations a bit less volatile.

That's right except that it was a year. They committed to each other in July of that year and everything else about Judd picking four clubs for interview, to be narrowed down to two and then one and even his grandmother's views on the subject were fake news.

Someone sold me a fugazzi.

Either way, he did have a meeting that took place in a portable with us and wasn’t impressed.

Be careful Ethan, there is a lot of it out there and we don't want to tarnish your reputation as the number 1  trade news breaker, with fugazzi.

It’s ok, meetings with potential players now take place in a McCafe.

Where is that coming from?

TBH I would accept it if we got good picks and players we want and they have both.

They could replace Lynch with a ready made potential champion and we could maybe persuade Tyson to go there as well to make the deal even more attractive for them. They will have picks 2 and 3. We are into May and KK.

If JH is happy to go to GC then we know something else is behind the move.

Also I think GC would get AFL help to get JH and he could get more money there than in Freo. He could become a very rich boy indeed and we could do a super trade.

That's because the coffee is better at McCafe.

The point about GC is, that's what the promise might be if this doesn't work for all...

Which would suggest he is completely disgruntled and doesn't care where he goes (ie: its not the go home factor)

or its only about coin....

that doesn't feel accurate at all....

What could he be disgruntled over? All reports say he is happy at MFC

well, that's my point.?

I'm totally cool on the go home factor, be it Hogan, be it VDB, whomever - it makes sense...it's disappointing if things transpire that way for whomever for the club, for supporters, and I still get it...

But to do a Mitch Clarke...well, it just feels deceitful.

(or a mal michael)....

The fact that the deal between Carlton and Judd was as good as done by the middle of that season is also the explanation given for the Blues’ dramatic fall from grace and them losing the last 11 games in a row including the famous “Kreuzer Cup” game in Round 22. It really should have been called the “Kreuzer-Judd” Cup because it secured both players for them.

Ironically, more than a decade later, Dennis Pagan who was coach of Carlton on Kreuzer Cup day will today be presenting the Jock McHale Medal to the premiership-winning coach and one of the players in the winning team could well be Josh Kennedy, the young key forward who the Blues gave away as part of the deal to get the Judd trade done.

Worth thinking about if we do end up trading our own key forward in Jesse Hogan.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
