According to Josh Mahoney:

Jesse wanted to go home and his preference was Fremantle. Leave on good terms. If Melbourne played in Perth he'd be playing for us.

Cold comfort

I never feel the same about players traded in as those drafted.  Bernie aside.

I do just want to say that unlike nearly all players that leave Melbourne I will have a large soft spot for Hogan.

I think he's definitely wired differently to some, who wouldn't be so concerned being away from family and friends. but he's a hugely talented and smart footballer.

I wish him well.

There's a bit of this & while I wish him well personally, professionally - not so much

Hard not to feel a sense of loss though. Nothing to do with trade wins or picks received.

Simply put, I just loved watching him play footy for us and think his best is yet to come. I'd have liked to have watched that

that Dland banner....ummmmm....cant put my finger on it.........

Well it will add a little interest to watching Freo matches on TV.

Need a vomit button.

Freo will still struggle to kick goals. Gained a forward. Lost a mid.

Better than Hogan getting one.

I doubt we will get cerra, but I have connections to him and word is he would want to come home to Victoria

Get in his ear, mate. ;)

Goodbye Jesse.

I had high hopes for you ,but you couldn’t commit to the mighty Dees.

To me you are now just another opposition player playing for a team we will aim to smash on our way to the big one!

Red and Blue forever.

He'll aways be an import and so the connection isn't as strong as say someone like Spargo.  I'll obviously support him but it's just different somehow.

Probably only me.

So whats on telly tonight.... the very best of ....Trade Week......watch as dimwits and nimrods talk twadlle and reminisce about all those glorious moments......

Sounds marvee

( what were they thinking !! )

For you don't love me
And I'll always be crying over you
Crying over you
Yes, now you're gone
And from this moment on
I'll be crying, crying
Crying, crying
Yeah, crying, crying
Over you

I think when the emotion of this subsides over the coming days many will see that our list is in better shape than it was prior to the trade period.

The big plus is the circus is finally over and we now look like we have a list of players committed to the club.

It’s not only you.

Thanks Jesse you got us to finals, you gave us hope, and you can move on to a cruisier life in Freo potentially.

A whisper was this was player led re: professionalism and standards...so as some people say he didn't buy into Melbourne FC, maybe not quite the case, just who Melbourne FC now want to be.

All the best JH for whatever comes next.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
