We were never going to get 5 & 6 for Hogan.  We might now get 5 & 11.  11 To be on traded for May.

5 we can take to the draft or deal with Adelaide for 13 and 21 or similar.

So now, how about...

Neale to brisbane for 5

hogan to Freo for 5, 11

Kent to saints for pick 39

Tyson, 11, + 39 - for May and KK

Tyson has knocked back GC. Would need him to change his mind.

If Tyson agreed,  it would be more likely to be Tyson and 11 for May and KK and 39 to Roos for Preuss.

Would Gold Coast accept 11 and 30 something for May when they can get more next year?

I think Pick 5 may have to be used.

I'm not so confident we get May for 11. I think they'll ask for 5. I pray we don't blink first.

Hoping GC happy to do May for  11 then, plus maybe a sweetener to GC, so they can move on.

That would leave us with 5 which would be great.

Great outcome.  I'm sure I've heard someone else mention something similar...

I'm with you Mauriesy.  As it stands, we don't have a first round pick in this year's draft.  We also need a quality, solid key defender, a back up ruck and some speed on the outside.  If we can manage to get all of those things, as well as maintaining a position in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds this year, and all we've lost is Hogan, Tyson and Kent, then it's big ticks from me.

Oh wait, there it is...

This deal sets Freo up for Hogan deal with Melbourne (pick 11 and the pick 5 they're expected to get from Brisbane for Lachie Neale) and Rory Lobb (23). It sets Port up to snare an SA young gun in draft. Win, win

OK, so no to the Tyson part of the deal.

?? should get it done...

As long as we dont use pick 5 or 11 on May,  that would be a nice return.

so presumably now:
neale goes to bears
5, may and kk go to melbourne for hogan
10 and future 2nd from melbourne goes to gc17
11 goes to gw$ for lobb
and freo get hogan and lobb?

Who are Port after?

They might now be looking to push 6 and 10 to the GC to get either pick 2 or 3.

I also wonder if we secure pick 5, whether we will be looking to trade to Adelaide/Port  for some slightly later picks... or players.

How about Sam Frost and a pick in the 30's with 11? I'm not sure i'd take that as a GC fan. They'd probably only take 5 as they can't be bothered asking for more to bring it to that pick 3 comparable trade that they'd get next year. Pick 11 couldn't possibly be on their agenda without A LOT of sweetness.

What about Pick 11, and MFC 2019 First Round Pick, for May, KK and Pick 19?

TBH IF he is going to be traded and considering we want May, I don't really care anymore what the deal is, as long as we are left with pick 5.

If GC are happy to take the rest of what we get, whatever it is and we can wrap KK into the deal somehow, or do it separately for an acceptable pick, then I would be happy.

I think it is really about what we are left with after getting May. If it is pick 5 then fantastic, as that is a very good player, or the opener for more deals.

No there it is.

We'll have to use one of those picks.  Pick 11 would be preferable.  The Suns have made it clear they want a good return for May.  Pick 11 and then a mixture of other picks will get it done.  Take 5 to the draft to get a gun.

C'mon Petracc, most likely we will have to use 5, if we could use 11 that would be a massive win for us.

Pick 39 from saints is for Hannebery, Kent will be for a pick 50+

Gold Coast will demand Pick 5, if May leaves next year as a FA they'll get a first round compo which would be pick 2 if they finish last.

Pick 5 is fair for May and KK.

Which is basically the same as what @mauriesy said, which you challenged, then started talking about cars.  Ok.

I really can't imagine GC accepting pick 11 for May - do people really see this happening?

Considering they would almost certainly get a pick between 1-5 as compo next year.. Hope I'm wrong, though!

Tyson won't be part of the May deal

Hogan going for 5 and 11.

Giving pick 5 to GC for May plus a late pick.

If that is how it plays out, a terrible job by us.

Pick 11 33 and 2019 first rounder for may and Kolo?

so effectively it’s 11, 16-18 and 33

its possibly overs but if we bring in May and keep 5 I am okay with that

They won't get the pick 3 comparable if they go up the ladder a few spots and it could be 7 or 8 at best.

Therefore 11 is not that far away and they are pretty desperate to put this to bed this trade period and not have the disruption next year.

I would not lose Sam Frost and that is way overs anyway.

11 is possibly unders so maybe we sweeten the deal with a later pick.

Tuned in to the trade radio to see what they were saying the picks just to kill some boredom, and they're debating gary rohan being top 8 in geelong or not. FMD

if we give up pick 5 as part of the may deal i will be ropeable unless we get something SIGNIFICANT back

i know it's just my mfcss speaking, but i feel like we are about to be absolutely bent over and pillaged

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
