I reckon this thread will crack 200 pages before we know anything.

The descent into madness is thoroughly underway!

Mahoney also said they would expect heavy compensation from the Dockers, given they believe he's worth the "highest that anyone has been traded for".

This tells me we want 4&5.  Does anyone know what’s the highest anyone has been traded for previously?

Collingwood traded first round 2015 which was pick 7 and first round 2016 which was also pick 7 I believe for Adam Treloar in 2015. Can anyone think of higher than that?

but...but...slobbo says he is only worth 1 first rounder.....

And yet Lever, & the Kitchen, cost Us two 1st Rnd picks.

Go figure whats running through slobbo's head, other than its quite fume y, & is red, and very very tarish.

When I first heard about Jesse wanting to leave I was shattered.

After my brain processed it for a day or two I became genuinely excited about what we could get in return.

If (and it's a big if) there is any back flip from Jesse and he doesn't request a trade, he must sign a minimum 4 year contract extension or we must F him off.

clearly hoges is meeting clubs, but if he doesn't request a trade expect his contract to be extended so we dont lose him as a free agent

Clearly Hoges is meeting club (singular) - the one he wants to play for!

Agreed. Mahoney spoke about stability in the list. I don’t necessarily think Hogan has sought to be traded however was told to look at his options if he weren’t ready to commit long-term.

There were morons here who said we had no right to request he show his loyalty by signing a new deal. I would like all of those people to put their hand up because they seemed quite happy to just let his contract run down in a rather reactionary way.

hey guys, im a bit confused. if hogan leaves and we get 2 first round picks and we use one to get may, will we use the other pick at the draft? And if so, what pick would that be?

I know you were only joking, but what would they offer him? 2 million a year? (F**k I wish I was Jesse Hogan).

They'd have too, wouldn't they? AFL would have to back them in too.

4 and 5 would be a statement. Freo won't do it. Port want their pick 4/5 and Freo want as many picks in top 10 as possible because Lobb, Kelly, Hogan and Hill are all available.

slow list build freo, what can we tell ya?.. just lock in jesse this year and go from there. like we had to do. and we'll take 4 & 5 plus cerra or brayshaw thanks.

We will want players that are ready to go straight away next year. I can't imagine we'll go to the draft unless we absolutely have to (ie a suitable trade cannot be struck).

We'll look to use one on May (and KK if possible) and package the other first rounder with our first rounder for next year and target a Kelly or another mid or defensive gun.

I still think we're in the race for Gaff too given Mahoney's avoidant and cleverly worded comments today on Trade Radio.

Get out

not the one we had wolfy.. this one:

POS: Tall forward
Ht 202cm, Wt 86kg, DOB 7/7/00
From Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
August ranking: 4

King continues his recovery from an early-season knee reconstruction which wiped out most of his draft campaign. The key forward was seen as a possible No.1 contender before the injury struck, and is still likely to be one of the first handful of players selected on draft night. King has been doing his rehabilitation program twice a week using St Kilda's facilities. He is an athletic tall who is as good in the air as he is when the ball hits the ground.

Massive no from me. Need a ready made kid if we go to the draft, not a project player.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
