Fellow Demonland lunatics, let us now go quietly into the next few nights, let us cogitate and hope, let us not get carried away with despair or prem rejoicing, let us take what comes with calm and sober equanimity. We have been here before, to have our pulses ruptured in 1987, our guts ripped out in 1988 and 2000. There were false dawns in between - I recall an Anzac Day game against Essendon in 1991 or so, 49 points ahead at three quarter time and getting dumped down the gurgler - and I recall an infamous final against the Crows where we were 50 points behind, then 50 points in front and still got dumped down the trash can.

Che sera, sera. If we beat the West Coast let us hold our breath because then we will have to beat either the E Colli Wobblers or Riche Monde and always the umpires.

We cannot rely on miracles. We can only rely on the fortitude and nous of our front line troops.

Ora Nobis.

It's just a footy game bro.

Therefore more important than everything bar your partner and your kids, and that is assuming they are good kids.

Unsure why people continually refer to football players as things like "front line troops".

Football and war are not similar, enough with the war-like metaphors I reckon. Its football, not Gallipoli.

Agree 100% - it is actually quite pathetic that especially the commentariat on 25 April keep pumping up the Druggies and the Pies along the lines of emulating our ANZAC heroes.  FFS what rot.

Sure it takes some courage to even walk out onto an AFL field, but it is nothing even remotely like going out knowing you are going to be shot at and bombed perhaps over a few years if you are lucky enough to survive the initial onslaught, just for starters.

Couldn't agree more. Let's not get too serious, chaps, it is ONLY a game called Australian Rules....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
