Is anyone else petrified of the prospect of  playing Geelong in a final.

This mob has bullied us into submission since 2007 and absolutely embarrassed us as a professional sporting organisation, like no other opposing club has.

And the 3 most recent matches we’ve played against them, we’ve given it our absolute best shot and still come short. Hasn’t helped that Geelong have kicked 50.22 in stupidly lucky accuracy.

And finally....Dangerfield.

I think we’re a better chance leaving the G and taking on GWS.

Hell no.

I think Geelong is the weakest side in the top 8. They wouldn’t have even made finals if their last two matches weren’t against 2 of the 3 worst teams in the comp at their home ground.

We should have beaten them twice this season. A bit more experience and Gawn kicking straight and we win both.

I look forward to the redemption of beating them in finals. I loath them and I want to play them more than anyone else.

Hawthorn and Richmond scare the crap out of me. Geelong don’t.

Have we?

The record books state we’ve beaten them once in 12 years.

To be fair we haven’t beaten many teams in the last 12 years and they did win 3 flags in that time.

Yes Jaded but their teams that won G.F's are not playing in two weeks time. Cannot wait to play them in the finals as I reckon we have them and they know it. Several cat fans at our golf club are quite worried coming up against us. BRING IT ON.

Well we mustn't forget what the record books say! Wink

What's up with those Lions uniforms?

The further they stray from traditional Fitzroy, the more bollocks they look.

Collingwood finishing 2nd on the ladder with the double chance and an travel-free path to the Grand Final is horrible thought.

I like the Lions, but today I hope West Coast beat them and hold on to 2nd spot.

If the Methcoast drop to 3rd or 4th do they still get a home final if we play them.

I believe they’ve secured 2nd.

Not if the Lions roar

Is Mitch Robinson injured? Touched it once in nearly 2 qtrs!

Ah yes thanks. The app I was using to look at the ladder was a ‘live ladder’ which I didn’t realise.

Looks like the Pies are heading back to Optus Stadium in a fortnight.

Darling was a big out for Weagles last week ???

The Exers kicked 2 more goals than Carlton for the year. Think that might be 4 years in a row?

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
