If so it will be a tough gig for Pies in Week 1

Failmantle. Good for nothing garbage club.

So, assuming Sydney win (Hawks looks shocking at the moment), who do we play if we lose and who do we play if we win?

My head hurts trying to figure all this [censored] out again.

Hope we play them. Any chance

I don't think so. Pretty much any way it lands, they are on the other side of the draw to us I think.

As it stands right now. Hawthorn if we lose, Geelong if we win.

I’m sure there’s someone ready to condemn me to the depths of hell if I have that wrong though ?

So it's all starting to narrow a little bit...

Win = 5th = Geelong at the G

Lose = 8th = GWS in Sydney

Win that first final and we play the loser of 1st vs 4th, which is looking likely to be either Sydney in Sydney, or Collingwood at the G.

Pretty sure that is wrong. If we lose, we will be 8th, and GWS will be 5th, so we will play them again, although in Sydney this time.

And there it is!!

By my calculations, we need to win tomorrow, otherwise it could be travel every week of the finals to go on any sort of run.

Elimiation final vs GWS at Spotless

Semi final vs Sydney at the SCG

Prelim final vs West Coast at Optus

That would be impossible.

Or we need Hawthorn to win to keep Victorian sides in our side of the draw

Yeah that’s it. I had every aspect covered except what winning would do to GWS!

Cant remember a time where there were so many deciding matches. Then again haven’t been in the 8 for so long to be able to tell.

Jeez Freo almost actually did it, realistically it was unlikely for them to get the job done as they've been such a rabble this year (how is Lyon still coaching there?).

I like the fact that there is certainty with our match tomorrow, we know where we stand and what our result will mean for without the jeopardy of dropping out.

Typical that Geelong get the softest end to the year and back things up with 100+ trouncings of rabble clubs.

Only chance of us playing the hawks week one is if Syd hawks play a draw and we lose to gws. GWS make top 4 on percentage.

Might starting cheering for the draw!!

I’m just looking forward to playing and discussing finals rather than draft picks which is what we are usually doing this time of the footy season.

May it last more than one week.

Agree this time last week I was doubtful if we would even make finals. Having said that a Hawks win does help things.

Traveling Wilburys would be proud of that lot. I dunno, we seem to go ok on the road....didnt Bulldogs do something similar?

Want the Swans to win this, and the Hawks eliminated in week 1.

O’Meara, more like O’Rated

Hawks will win. Clarkson is a bloody good coach. Yes has had some good players come in but built a team and culture we can now hopefully achieve.

If this is a draw, my hours spent on the ladder predictor will be rendered useless.

Swans love a low scoring contest. Still anyone’s game

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
