If anyone is interested in how many grand final tickets were allocated to where in 2017 (exact break downs):

Several people yesterday were interested in the breakdown so I've extracted the summary showing 2017 Actual vs the AFL Standard Range:

Yesterday, I estimated:  20,000 MCC members, 20,000 AFL members, 20,000 'AFL Entitlements/Obligations'. These are generally much closer to the mark than the AFL published 'Range', the latter being to allow them to do what they like eg the AFL will never have just 5,000 for its 'Entitlements/Obligations' nor '0' for 18 AFL clubs.

Needless to say there isn't a lot of equity in either the allocation nor that it is the Competing Club Members that actually pay full price to attend (even tho their club membership cost is not much less than other AFL/MCC members).  But, as they say in the classics:  Life wasn't meant to be fair!

Not sure if this has been covered yet...

Just received my Grand Final barcode int he mail today (Hong Kong).

I am Priority 3 for the ballot, however my father and sister are Priority 2.

The form says that if people want to sit together, you have to enter the ballot together.

Does this mean that people with different priority level cannot sit together, or can we put our barcodes on the same booking and let the computer sort it all out..?

If you apply together then everyone drops to priority 3.

Ouch!  Kiss of death!

I would not be popular at Christmas... might just apply solo.

We are in 511 row 3.  4 of us coming. At least we won’t be alone

Good stuff - that makes at least 7 of us in 511! You’ll hear our roars and screams after every goal, and ”oooss” and “aaahss” after every Clarry pick up and handball. Throw in a bit of “Weeeeeeeeeeiiiiid” and I think you’ll know soon enough who the three nutters up the back are!

Thanks for that random internet 'turdo

Just did the priority one registration, very easy and straight through

Just registered also.  As it has been way too long, does anyone know when you choose the category seating or is a case of random selection so you pay for category 1 seating even if you only want to pay for Category 3 seating

Just went online to Ticketek for Priority 1 rego. Very quick and easy. Selected option 1 as recommended but really hope I'm not in standing room or up in the roof of the G. Level N or M would be awesome or anywhere near the Cheer Squad.

Have to wait and see I guess

Most importantly we gotta win!

Goo Deeeees!!!!

Interesting that we can't request what price category yet.  Is that randomised too?

Hi fellow Priority 1 members.

What option did you select for your GF ticket?

We should hopefully get a seat but seems a possibility to be standing if selected option 1.

Sure hope not as I can't stand al day (maybe swap with someone who likes to stand)

By the way what's it like in standing room? Do we have our own section or mixed with Cwood or Richmond bogans?

Priority 1 is guaranteed a seat.

The standing room election is there because it has to be there for priorities 2 and 3 and obviously the software is not sophisticated enough to remove that election for priority 1.

Hope we all get to enjoy it.

I suspect if one were a Tigers supporter it's priority 1 only to get a ticket.

Mentioned on the AFL podcast today that there will be 2,300 Demon supporters heading over from Melbourne.

If you think that doesn't sound like many, its the most ever.  Not even the Pies have ever had that many Vic fans travel West.

That's incredible! And I thought the Pies fans were quite loud there a few weeks back too!

Agreed, incredible that our fans outnumber the Pies that went over.

Re the noise on TV, Ch 7 put microphones near the cheer squad and opp fans so it sounds good for television.

I reckon our players will have the MCG roar of the last few weeks echoing in their ears, even if our fans at the stadium get drowned out.

Yeah that's true there's always tricks like that used in coverage. Think I prefer the dead silence from stunning a crowd!

I think I have posted in the wrong thread.  Moved to another thread.

I'm in ROW 3 and will be wearing a jumper with number 18 on it. Make yourself known if you so wish. We will be getting rowdy and raising hell.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
