Beautiful mornings start though the wind picked up later in the session.
Coaches approach following the warm up with invited guest and groups, to begin training.

Drills with handballs and some contact work. They split into positional groups and then quickly change again to kicking and lead up work.
Looking very good.

Simulations had Goody or a player kick to a designated coach who brings the ball to ground. Crumbers work to spread the ball. Contests and pressure, run, quick ball and a corridor.

Rehab had Jake Melksham and Michael Hibberd. Hibbo running hard laps.

Thought Aaron vandenBerg would have had a better session but fumbling and not strong passes may show he is anxious.
Sam Wiedeman looking great, strong hands and reliable goal kicking routine.
Cam Pederson doing well and has become more vocal in structuring the defense.
Mitch Hannan and Josh Wagner steady session.

Thanks Kev.

How was Dean Kent? Is he a chance this weekend??

Dean Kent looking the goods as was everyone else. It was a high standard of training today.

Jesse Hogan was great, looking very stong with movement and kicking.

Dean Kent always looks the goods at training

Struggles under preessure

I reckon Vanders is in this week

- players and coaches formed one huddle then huge cheers, couldn’t see who for but it had to be for someone who hasn’t played for years or a debutant?

- straight after that Hannam, Bugg, Kent left the track while Vanders continued training with the forwards

educated guess Vanders in for Jake!

Hi 000

when you reference "invited guests" in your opening post who are you referring to...Casey contracted players or others?

Many thanks

Looking forward to seeing my man, vandenFyfe.

Hold up, I missed the memo that Pederson was a defender now?

Perfect opportunity to bring Vanders in against the GC, who he will absolutely bully.

Agree on perfect game to bring back but not sure he will just slot in and Bully blokes after 2 years. More likely be off the pace compete hard and hopefully jag a goal . Not expecting anything really but rapt for him if he is back. I caught up with AVB in an airport lounge about a year ago after another setback and he was a pleasure to talk to . Was really hopeful but not sure if and when he could make it back to AFL, a great credit to him that (hopefully ) he is playing.

You obviously haven't watched the Casey games, would not like to be first Gold Coast player he tackles

He is stronger, fitter and faster, his words

Testimony to the rehab/fitness staff again, especially Crossy, the guys in rehab work extra hard for him

Still a lot of emphasis on contested work at training

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
