Surely we could put Pat McKenna and Lachi Filopivic in defence at the expense of Jetta and Jones, with Daniel Cross filling up space

do we need this fella out of retirement to satisfy the doubters ?

The other alternative was to send TMc back;  and bring Frost up the ground to the wing...  who by the way is improving.

Another alternative was bringing in Marcus Seecamp for a hit job

Ahhh...Jamie Shanahan

A rare breed of footballer that couldn't tell the difference between a human head and a Sherrin..

It is that time of year when most teams suffer some unexpected and unwanted injuries.

We certainly have our full allotment.

If Clarry is unable to play this week (and Harmes) in addition to our existing high talent outs, it is hard to see us getting the job done in Adelaide.

We all knew we would rue the pathetic performance against the Pies, the inexcusable loss to the Saints and the many "winnables" that we found a way to lose.

My own thoughts are that we were never a genuine contender in 2018. The lessons we are learning are in preparation for 2019- 2022 when our younger bodies have matured, as well as their heads and ability to adapt to changed game conditions. The last 6 weeks have been good, if not painful learning. But I don't see them as wasted, I see them as necessary pains in the development of a strong unit.

I genuinely want our boys to get a taste of finals this year. I am presently uncertain that taste will come. Injury and lost opportunity is taking its toll.

Last weekend was another learning exercise for our young coach as well. If  JKH gets another game in Demon colours..............ahhh, what can I say. There are a few other players who could be named as very disappointing last week. They are one paced bla bla bla, but there seems little to be gained in naming and/or criticising them. They were selected on form and we have few options presenting at Casey to replace them.

I don't think there will be too many changes except JKH and those resulting from injuries. The players played 3 very good quarters of footy at the Cattery. They deserve the opportunity to go again.

We're not a genuine contender.

But we are a genuine contender to get into the finals series. Just not do very much when there.

But that's fine...  as we are onward upward.   And we are growing older and maturing, getting stronger, getting better.

It's all part of the deal.

As to your opening line...I once concurred.

I no longer do.

Our gears don't mesh....from the Box to the Square.

Sad really

Doedee's no spud. He's a massive out. Their Lever if what I've heard from my Crows friends is true.

It's kind of becoming level on paper...but it's their paddock.

I'm wondering if our outs hurt more than theirs ?

He'd still be pretty handy (or glovey) down back

Two weeks ago the Crows beat the Cats who  we could not beat with Clarry in the side.

How on earth will we beat the Crows on their home patch with or without Clarry?

As a tactic should we play the Richmond theme song when our players run through the banner?

I reckon we adopt the "Adelaide" stance....then laugh maniacally !!!

Mawahaha ...

About as much chance .  ...

Cheer squad could sing it, fan violence for a second week in a row would go down well

Yeah, hes a good player for them.     I was just barracking for Melbourne when I made the post.

Did I read correctly that Harmes broke a bone in his hand last weekend, has had a plate inserted and is expected to play this weekend, just a few days after the operation??

I’m cringing with concern, like when Viney came back early.

Yes, has had an operation on that hand, has some metal put in, and if no infection, he may play?

Lovely pic DV8, hahah.

CJade-  Yes a hand is far less career threatening than a foot, but its still an important appendage, won’t have healed properly and surely the trauma of a match so soon risks ongoing problems.

Yeah, probably not even possible to win! It's not like we're playing a team we trounced by 91 points earlier in the season or anything.

Seriously though, Doedee would be a big out for the Crows. However, our injury list is looking pretty nasty, particularly if Harmes is out (and I'm guessing he won't play).

How did GCS beat the Swannies, od?

I believe we are a red hot chance to thump them

I really really really hope you are right jr. Sadly I have completely lost confidence in our team's ability to win anything after the last few weeks.

Jamie still works out at the same gym and he coaches a local VAFA team. He is still in top nick and kills the rowing machine but I suspect his footy career has left him with some dogey knees and playing footy would not appeal. he did pull on the boots a few years ago whencoaching at St Bedes Mentone when al their ruckmen were injured. He couldn't walk for a week.

Must've been from running around chasing Jarman.

The same way we beat them without Gawn and Hogan last time.

Assume you mean last year at Adelaide Oval..?

Pedersen and Kent played well that day

I think:

In: Pedersen { then Kent, then Hunt }

Out: JKH { then Harmes (if inj), then other? (if inj) }

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
