BUMP!

Looks like Jack will get another year at Port.    http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-24/port-trio-set-for-lifelines-rookie-still-in-limbo

Rapt for him.  Of all people he deserves to keep his AFL dream alive.

Good reward for working his butt off. Well done.

Some other players could learn from his work ethic.

Well done, Jack T.

Two other things in that AFL article caught my eye:

  • Dom Barry was delisted on Monday and Jimmy Toumpas has earlier been delisted. Port's ex-Melbourne contingent has thus halved
  • Port may have 5 ruckmen on their list (it might still be reduced to 4). While I appreciate one is only a 19 year old recovering from an ACL, that's still a lot of ruckmen to be carrying

He'll be entering his 10th year on a senior list.  With his injury issues, this is a testament to his character that clubs have wanted to retain him for this long with such uncertainty over his body and fitness.

It’s unheard of, really. He averages just under 10 games a season, so he’s been afforded a slack that very few players would have had.

Hopefully things finally come together for him. Fair to say I’m not optimistic, but best of luck to him.

Would there have been a time when we had all of Gawn, Martin, Spencer, Fitzpatrick and Russian on ours?  At thr time, Gawn was probably a 19 yo recovering from an ACL as well.

That's two full Michael Newtons! (Scientific abbreiation Mn)

Although, the Mn officially refers to time spent on a list without making regular appearances in the senior side. So Trengove can really only claim one Mn, all due to injury.

I really hope he manages a quiet resurgence. Would be one of Port's very few true hard workers.

2010 , 2011 and 2012 I believe.

Dom Barry is interesting after looking good in the pre-season.

He wasn’t given much of a chance. Feel for him after working so hard to get back imto the system. Still, he played 10 more AFL games than you or I.

We've got the Jack

Penicillin doesnt trouble him

How many Jake Spencers (Js) though?

Don didn’t play again in the seniors, had a six week ‘suspension’, after a bit of a drunken run in with team officials after the game in Shanghai, where he was the traveling emergency

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
