Will be interesting to see who takes Lever's spot. The Bear is a cert considering his form in the twos and Smith being dropped but Lever's replacement considering the ins listed last night is a little more unclear.

If anyone can give us any insights from training that night clear this up then it would be appreciated.

I hope they avoid debuting Petty this week. From the reports it sounded like he had a poor week last week, and I rather a young guy coming in to be playing well. We might be flying but can't flirt with form against an in-form Collingwood

Ben Guthrie reporting Pedersen, J Smith, Stretch and Garlett are training with the AFL squad.

Hannan has strapping on his knee and is on light duties with Gus. Some rumours circulating Gus is carrying a sore calf.

Was still a great crowd considering the weather. Sausage sizzle and hot coffee easily best afield in these conditions

- Cam Pederson looked in ripping touch. Beat TMac at least three times in some one on one drills. Looks a lock for Monday.

- Joel Smith did some nice things although disposal was a tad ordinary at times. Don't mind the coaching group backing him in for the Lever role as I think he has more upside than Frost.

- Mitch Hannan had his knee strapped and rotated between rehab and the main group. Didn't seemed too restricted by his injury. Obviously, expect Jeff Garlett to get the call up should he not feel 100% for QB. Speaking of Jeffy, seemed to be doing most things right aside from a bullet pass that landed directly in the hands of the opposition player (Charlie Spargo) during some match simulation. Sort of sums up Jeff's season so far

- Kent looks very close to rejoining full training. Participated in a couple drills with the main group.

- Jetta was Jetta. Good lord, he is a marvel to watch in one on one drills. Never gets beaten, even when he was matched up against the likes of Hogan and McDonald. Always broke even at the bare minimum.

Happy to fill in any blanks if anyone has any questions.

Did Brayshaw join the main group today? Some talk he was on light duties.

I believe Gus was in rehab when I arrived. Was participating in main group drills by the time I left. Don't remember him being too hindered by anything.

You are one quirky dude, but I guess you are from the Wild West.

Inbreeding or just humans and creatures living alongside one another in perfect harmony?

Training Friday
A morning to harden the team with cold wind and light rain.
The Casey team weren't there.
An extenened rehab with the light duty group. Mitch Hannan, Angus Brayshaw, Tim Smith, Jake  Melksham, Dean Kent and Corey Maynard. I didn't notice if Melksham or Tim Smith joined the main group. The rest did except for Corey who was increasing his work load.
Simulations played with the slippery ball. Spread was good. Cam Pederson was hitting up well. Joel Smith was round about. Tom Mcdonald looking in shape. Jesse Hogan big and strong around the field. Max Gawn zoning and chasing everyone.
Some individual goal practice with Bernie Vince, Nathan Jones, Jesse Hogan and Michael Hibberd who joined in later.
Harrison Petty and Jayden Hunt not on the field. Jeff Garlett doing his stuff.
Petracca and Jesse last to leave field after shots at goal.

By the end it was freezing but glad of the hot coffee. Really impressed with Oscar who really has some speed. The guys really looked like they were having fun out there.

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
