Every time either team gets momentum, the umpires halt it with a soft free.

Have the umpires been instructed to stop our momentum?

Don't get me started. Ray doesn't just want to umpire, he wants to influence the game.

I'm at mirboo nth near leongatha.

Bad reception, but just saw a lid flying through the air.

Just as many not paid to us

Lever a possible bone bruise (at best) or a lateral for 4 to 6 (at worst).  Done for the day if someone hasnt't already mentioned

If we were on today we’d be 50 points up already. Doggies are a proper shite footy team and aren’t even playing well today. We’re just playing dumb lazy footy and will have to grind out a win today. Confident we’ll win fine, but definitely not playing good footy like the past 6 weeks.

[censored] I suppose better than the ACL!

Fingers crossed not too serious.

This is going to be a struggle. Dogs love to play boring low scoring rubbish. They have held us very well. With one down and 2 not fully fit, this will be a big ask. Especially off a short break.

Great half in terms of responding to a challenge. Lever down, Melksham and T. Smith are both carrying knocks. We really need to blow the doggies away in the 3rd. If we give them a sniff for the final qtr they might outlast us.

Impressive quarter but couple of missed shots by Hannan and TMac  have kept Dogs in it.

After getting a late hip and shoulder to the back but no free. Ridiculous, a hip and shoulder to the back should be a week.

Harmes will be fine, just a corker.

Umps have been pathetic. Almost like the AFL told them to make sure it’s a contest and not another trashing.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
