14 Quarters in a Row

Featured Replies

The team has now won 14 quarters in a row.

Does this mean anything given the opposition, or does it actually hint at the end of the narrative that we struggle against lower, ' gimme' , sides, and its full team ahead in these types of games the supporters up to now are always fearful the team will struggle in?

Win all four quarters against the Crows and we just may start to be taken seriously.

The press this week:

Demons have only beaten Essendon, St Kilda, Gold Coast and Carlton who are all no good!

Still doesn’t hurt the Demons to stay under the radar.

Win against Brisbane in Brisbane looking better & better!

Yep, just heard as much on the radio.
Only beaten such and such.
Thankfully they're all worth 4pts.
Lets just keep raking 'em up.

It has started tonight. Here’s a little from the 9 things we learned from Round 9 article on the AFL site. They also have a poll on which is the best team after 9 rounds and they only list 4. Crows, Tigers, Swans and Eagles....

the Demons' draw has been softer than Kleenex. In that time, they played teams that all sit in the bottom five after round nine:

We helped put them^ in the bottom 4.

Winning 14 quarters in row absolutely means something. It means there aren’t threads about 7 goal runs ons against us. It means we’ve found consistency,  doesn’t matter what opposition, there have been no lapses - there have been bad periods of footy, but we haven’t let lesser teams get on top - we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing.

As for our draw being softer than Kleenex, so has Richmond’s. It’s what you do with the soft draw. What did Essendon do against Carlton? What did GWS do against St Kilda? How many times have Carlton been beaten by 109 and The Suns 69?

Yeah it’s been an easy patch of games, and we’ve made easy work of it. Last year we would’ve dropped one or two of them or at the least slugged out ugly wins.

With you 100%. Very odd the AFL site would put a poll of the best team and yet the 3rd placed team isn’t amongst the 4 teams listed.

Actually it will be good for the Demons. It will stop them getting ahead of themselves.

Demon supporters can see with TMac back, Lever settling into the defence, Brayshaw starting to really play again, Max back fit, Hogan back fit, improvement in OMac and others building confidence, we are a much better team than last year.

A win against the Crows next week, will have us on the map!!

I think to put us on the map we would need to win well against the crows, if we just fell over the line they will be talking about all the players they are missing, I’m happy to fly under the radar, I expect the eagles to be the media darlings this week

I had a quick look andI can't find us winning mote than 4 in a row since at least 2006. Unsure how far back we'd need to go to hit 14. It's been an impressive run.

I can't imagine many teams winning 14 quarters in a row, even the most dominant teams would have dropped the occasional quarter here and there.

I would take a 2 point win. It's all about accumulating the four points. If it helps us make finals nobody cares, remembers or analyses every result you've had.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
