He’s an old campaigner, we don’t have many, and he could be invaluable come the heat of September. Love that he hits to hurt opposition and can do a job on the best, see Dangerfield tag of a few years ago.

Experience equal versatility and flexibility to adapt as coach needs.

While he may struggle to play AFL in 2019, especially if we land Gaff,  Id keep him on just in case and to keep real pressure on our best 22, should he not be a walk up.

A yes from me.

Even if he plays out a few games at Casey  , his experience and what he can impart to the up coming list is worth it..imho

Not a decision I’d be making after Round 9 of the season. Yes he’s been playing some good footy but I’d rather decide end of season.

We play finals. We play Adelaide. We need to tag Sloan. We play finals. We play Geelong. We need to tag Selwood.

Name one player on our list who you would feel more confident giving the job to than Vince.

For me Vince will be invaluable in finals. He is hard as nuts and he gives his all. He is experienced and I think players love him around.

Bernie is playing in the top 22 at the moment.

The following haven't ever and are out of contract at year end:

Johnstone, McKenna, Keilty, Balic, with Filipovic and King

The following are fringe and are out of contract at year end:

JKH, Bugg, Kent, Pedersen, Vandenburg

Some will be kept for development, but that is 11 players who are on the edge.

If only 1/2 on that list go then the replacement draft pick is still somewhere north of 100.

Is Bernie better than that?   Pretty easy really.

This just belies all evidence. He hasn’t missed a game; not a bad effort for someone supposedly no longer good enough for a spot on the list.

Its a ruthless game & there is no room for sentimentality if you want to be successful.  I love the bloke but reckon he is struggling & lucky to be in the 22.

Should be delisted at years end.

Might want to read G O O T just above.

Sums it up pretty much.

Cheers.

If we win the big one this year.

He will retire

It’s a no from me.

The bloke could easily have cost us three goals in the first half against better opposition on Sunday, through poor dangerous kicks deep in defence.

Doesn’t have the composure he used to and throws it on the boot far too often for my liking.

I like the guy and think he’s great for the club...would be happy for him to prove me wrong, but think the games passing him by.

No.. shouldn't have even gotten a contract this year.

What a load of rubbish. Vince has done his job every week and thoroughly deserves his spot.

What games have you been watching?

Rather early to say.

Considerations:

His form, fitness.

Form and progress of others his junior.

Progress of the team as a whole.

Hopefully we won’t be in a position to even think about it for another 20 or so weeks, plus GF winning hangover.

Perfect call.

Both Vince and Lewis stay info the list until someone pushes them off.  I'm hoping Hunt can do that, but right now they are holding their own.

I was tempted to say no, but then I look at the bottom end of our list and realise there are at least six players there who will never be AFL footballers.

I'd keep Bernie at age 33 on a moderate salary ahead of any of McKenna, Vandenberg, Johnstone, Kennedy-Harris, Bugg, King, or Filipovic.

Same goes for Pedersen at age 32 next season when that question is posed shortly.

The easy answer is Jones, he did a brilliant job on Mitchell and with Viney now back he'll be less needed for pure grunt work. I don't think Vince has the capability to be a tagger anymore, he's been used off half back all season not as a tagger.

Not sure why so many are quick to either pension him off or keep him over a younger player, there's so much time left in the season. I fully expect at some point we'll give him a week or 2 off (same as we should for Lewis - unless the MRP does it for them), and at that point it might be better known (a) how we go without him and (b) if there is someone else on the list that can perform his role at the same level or better. Only then can we make a reasonable judgement of his potential for next year.
