I suspect we have always had similar goals but they have been more like pipe dreams, with wishy washy thinking on how to get there.  ie no idea!

This feels like a smaller version of what Hawthorn did to set themselves up as a strong club.  Different scale, different ideas but really solid planning and delivery of said plans.

What we need now is for the coaches and players to deliver on field!!!

Don’t think the terminology you used is correct ie pipe dreams & wishy washy

IMHO the club has a clear strong message. We are a football club not a religious or political organisation.

We are prepared to make positive innovative changes to attract a whole new generation of supporters.

the AFL assisted us with the rebirth of our club -  the AFL goals and MFC goals are aligned. Some of us will be forever grateful for the assistance and key personnel the AFL provided.

This will upset some but it was recognised long, long ago some who want to hold onto the ways of the past and resist change. Such is life.

I was referring to past administrations.  Bartlett, PJ et al have been the polar opposite of pipe dreams and wishy washy.  They have made things happen and there are more on their 'To Do' list.

With all due respect to past administrators much of their time was consumed dealing with political or religious agenda pushers.  Which often led to polarisation that spilled over into football matters.

This club had been dogged with those problems for decades plus the “haters” who are always going to hate.

The MFC is now politics and religion free - all are welcome male or female, young or old etc

Can you give an example of a religious agenda which was being pushed? I don't remember any.

Probably referring to not playing on a Sunday and not recruiting Ezra Poyas....

I agree. In fact, apart from jealousy, why do people care if the rich get richer? Surely what really matters is that the poor get richer. It doesn't have to be a zero sum game.

Simple.

When houses, medicine and food, & just plain living, become a slavery act to survive, then the current capitalistic system has gone beyond its use buy date.

This is the end of capitalism as we know it, because its become a cannibal.  The anti-christ has worked its spell into the big 'C' ;  and now its all downhill for big 'C'...

'the people, they are a changin'.

Err...didn't you say "With all due respect to past administrators much of their time was consumed dealing with political or religious agenda pushers"? You must have had a reason for saying that. It's a bit rich to resile from that statement now you've been called out on it.

What's that mean?

I’m sure it will be some derogatory term against a person who has a different opinion as him.

His other popular term would be “troll” the irony is quite funny. It’s the most banned term around the internet but the most misused term.

Happy to be wrong of course

Did we actually try to argue that we shouldn't play on Sundays for religious reasons?

I think Joe G was quoted as saying that if Melbourne selected Ezra Poyas then he wouldnt be selected to play on the Sabbath, or something like that....

While I'm supportive of (and pleased by) the social aspect of this decision, I highly doubt it's any more than a side effect of a decision that was otherwise 100% business.

The current administration hasn't done anything to suggest it operates in any way other than a shrewd one. I'm surprised you're not prepared to cut them some slack and let this play out before flying off the handle.

Fair call.

Will be very interesting to see what we make of the cash injection.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
