Def bunch of downhill skiers.

Yep they’re playing a re-building team without a functioning forward line at their home ground. Don’t expect that to stop the commentators wetting themselves over the new recruits.

Some atrocious passages of play from Port.

I was a big Jack Watts fan, and was seriously [censored] when we traded him. So today's performance tempts me to rail against Goodwin for trading him, and a little of that still remains.

However my real frustration is reserved for Jack. Why did it take being traded to perform? If you truly loved the club then you would've shown it on the park for the Demons.

So if I hear any comment from him this season that 'he always believed he was good, and just needed to be given a chance', then I will lose it.

We gave you many chances, and you chose to take it for granted.

So the overriding feeling I have now is one of betrayal.

So 20 disposals and 3 goals 3. Do you call that a good game or mark him down because it should have been 6 goals? He missed some pretty simple shots and dropped an uncontested chest mark right in front of goal, but I also saw some hard ball gets and defensive work.

A typical Watts game.  No physicality, but given some space will show his skills.

Two goals from left foot snaps, which is his bread and butter, and a goal from a free after he dropped a mark he should have taken.  To top it off he drops a chest mark that would have given him an easy shot at goal.

Just a typical Watts game.

That’s it mate. Since Roosy was coach Jack had numerous chances to rip a game apart, but he never did. He flashed in & out.

He was never going to do it for us. The right call was made regardless of what he does at Port

I think we will get great value out of Bayley Fritsch

If Jack does put in a decent body of work this year, it was never going to happen at MFC if he managed to stay.

Jack needed things to be made real for him. He would get an occasional rap across the knuckles but the gravity of his situation was never going to come home until he was faced with real consequences.

I will never blame the club if Jack turns it on this year. The culture isn't what it was in 2013. The 'MFC stunted my development as a player line' doesn't wash  as there has been continuity on the coaching and the admin side for 4 years now.

If Jack does have his breakout year (10 years into his career), he should do some self reflection as to how he let Goody and Roosy down for 4 years (with the exception of 2016).

I hope we gang tackle him a la Collingwood on QB. Screw him. He danced around like a girl for the better part of a decade, taking good coin and chipping in when he felt like it. Smash him into the ground 3 times in the first Q against them, and then watch Port play a man down for the rest of the game as he hides from the contest.

take your blinkers off mate. Jack Watts played his normal game today. Difference being he is appreciated by coach and team mates. Don't forget more than 70% of our supporters wanted him to stay.  Jack did not leave the Dees, he was sent packing. I enjoyed watching him  today as I always have. We have to concentrate on our team now , so please don't bag jack

Bit harsh mate. We gave him the contracts and the games. We gave him away for a middle of the road pick. His development across 658 coaches was not good.

I'm glad he's gone, but I wish him no ill

I hope Jack meets the expectations of Port whatever they may be, and that he regains his self belief.

He will not be a different player, just the same bloke in a different environment.

He was expected to walk on water when our team was a raging torrent of mediocrity inside and out.

The ferocious, sharp tongues of vocal so called Melbourne fans would never accept the club let him down,  as much as him failing to get the best out of himself.

For every game other than against us, l wish him well.

It's not ill will. But he plays for the enemy. Last time his contract came up, and he was making noises about leaving I was in the camp of hoping he'd go, and hoping he'd stay, and was a bit meh when he signed on, but excited thinking that this was the boot he needed. Same as this summer. I hoped that we'd come to an arrangement that kept him here, but also knowing the MFC had had enough and we'd never see the best of him.

So... maybe Port will get the return on our investment that we never got, and now he is a player for a team that stands between us and a flag. So I say crunch him. If he wants to turn it on for them after cruising for us then I hope when he plays us he spends 3 days recovering from (legal) tackle bruises.

I hope he makes us pay bigtime for the ridiculous decision to trade him for near on nothing. He deserves success after the [censored] he put up with for a decade.

What part of "that's all we could get for him" isn't clear? We only had one (one) offer and had to take what we could get. If we only managed "near on nothing", then the place to look for the reason is with Watts himself.

Jeez there’s some very bitter fools here. Jack had a good game today. He had plenty of good games for us, and will have plenty of good games for the Power. He’s a good footballer, no superstar, but a good footballer. Everyone need to build and bridge and get over it. We shipped him off when he was trying to be loyal, and he’s not part of our club anymore. Why bother whining about him. Move on.
