2 games is 8 points. When all the others froze and went into their shells.

How about Hannans 18 quiet games.?

Frosts dogs?

Lewis' nonentities/stupid suspension

Hogans lack of effort/nothing games

Vinces' turnovers resulting in losses

Tom Macs terrible days?

Jetts 9-12 touch games for 7 years

Gawns shockers?

Petraccas  cameos/disappearing act.

Dysons pinpoint opportunity passes?

You don't trade the most accurate set shot in the competition for a second round pick who will never win you a game.

mate you need to be held accountable for your dribble. all of those players have a crack for our club. sure they play poor games but they put their head over the footy and go when its their turn.  thats what separates jack from the rest. he is not only weak physically and gets pushed off the ball too easily but he doesnt tackle with intent. his one handed tackling efforts are a disgrace and in 9 years i dont recall him going back with the flight of the ball once. im just glad other supporters agree and more importantly the melbourne fc.

Bomber Thompson to the Cats

History is abundant with these examples. It's just an absolute [censored] comment and completely disrespectful to our coach.

I guess he'd prefer Garry Lyon was pulling the strings, maybe he could land us another Neeld

Don’t forget Luke Beveridge to Bulldogs

Luke played for the Bulldogs...

We are going to get peanuts for Watts. I'm not pleased about that.

I could stomach trading Jack for a fair return, but we aren't going to get that.

There’s obviously more to the story than what we’re privy to, unfortunately we’ll most likely never find out.

Unless we kidnap and waterboard Goody.

..........

Im still a bit unsure about Goodwin but he does not strike me as one who would give up information under any circumstances. Think you would need to plan for the long haul.

It still rather bemuses me that so many have yet to twig what this has been about.

The MFC don't care about any value for this trade. They've always been prepared to take chump change dressed up as some 'dowery'.

Smell the flowers folks.... It's just been about pushing Jack out the door.

Classy.

I call BS. Its Jacks call and always has been. He is under contract. If he stays and tries to perform at the expected level he will be putting himself under pressure to perform consistently. Has he go the cojones to do that?

We'll see.

He went to the Zoo, or Port Adelaide (same thing).

So why wouldn't Jack choose Sydney? I mean if he ends up interstate....nice beaches, close to Byron, out of the spotlight even more so than Adel, better weather.....why would he not choose Sydney and the Bloods culture I wonder.....?

Because they're not interested?

Well they were until he ruled out an interstate move...

Hey Biff. I assume you're old, so maybe you can help me? Why are a bunch of the older members of Demonland so keen on Watts? I thought you'd all have had enough by now, and be beyond the seduction of golden curls?

You don't send a boy on a man's errand.....

Port is the only club that has offered him a new three year deal

Cats offered two on vastly reduced terms

Sydney I suspect was the same

And how do you know this?

Robbie was a ball player and rarely tackled-you must admit that much.

Don't have to tackle when you got the ball....

Just read that Dees would entertain pick 30 & 33 for pick 45 and Watts. To sweeten the deal, Dees would pay some of Watts salary in 18&19.

Really? This shows how desperate we are to offload Wattsy.

He must done some despicable acts and we must desparately need to free up salary cap room.

A bitter and unsavoury outcome for a very popular and loyal player.

Can't remember which thread I posted it in, but I said that Steve Hocking is the new CEO Football of the AFL and the inference was that they will be looked after.

I can see them jumping back in after Stringer now.

They said they wouldn't give 34 to us for Watts and they clearly won't give 20 or 21.

They either offer 21 to Dogs for Stringer or give 34 to Suns for Ablett and keep 20 and 21.

I think the other clubs will be pretty angry about this.

I just wonder what REALLY happened.

I don’t believe any of the media.  Something we haven’t been privy to has happened.

It was Mad Monday. Goodwin had some melanotan left over from his Essendon days. It's the drug that gives you a fake tan and a three day .... erm ... let's just say something that gives you "performance". He opened the cupboard and found Watts had stolen his stash.
"Jack, what did you do with my mellies?"
"Your what? I thought they were eccies!"
"You stupid bugger! Give 'em back!"
"I can't! I don't have 'em. I sold them down the nightclub."
"You what! They were my last ones!"
"Sorry coach."
"Hand it over."
"Hand over what?"
"What you got for them. Hand it over."
"I can't exactly ... hand it over ..."
"Listen f**ker. Whatever you got for those drugs, give it to me. Right now. Or you're out the door."
"Well ... okay ...."
"Well!? Hurry up!"
"Alright. Undo your belt."

The rest is history.

That would be good for us.

Obviously we are confident of a later pick for Balic.

Might have someone else in mind and hence the need for picks and salary cap room.

Could be an interesting 5 days ahead for us.

We have picked up the best player to change clubs.

Not too bitter and unsavoury if Jack keeps his $500k per year and gets another year added.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
