Not related to today's training, but based on experience of previous years, can anyone tell me what the training arrangement is in the lead up to the Queen's Birthday game.  My son and I will be down from Sydney (arriving around the middle of Thursday) and I'm hoping there might be a Friday (or Saturday?) session. I probably ask this every year, but I'm old, ok - and I've only made it down for one QB game which was a few years ago.

Suggest you ring the Club early next week when training schedules are finalised.

Thanks LS. Yeah, I'll probably do that... just thought I'd ask here first as I'm sure there are at least a couple of regular attendees here who will have the likely answer.

From that sounds pretty likely Spencer will be good to go against the pies.

Kinda read it the other way... A bit off contact drills..

'Fellow big man Jake Spencer is closer to a return than Gawn, with the back-up ruckman completing the majority of the drills with the main training group.

Spencer did not join in the contact-based match simulation transition drills, but moved well early in training as the Dees had a focus on skills and moving the footy in tight spaces.'

11 days out from the game and by the sounds of it did almost the whole session. Plenty of time for introducing contact drills.

Last season there was an open training session with BBQ, mascots... etc on the Saturday before QB. Pretty sure it was same year before too. Dont remember actual time of last years session but I have a couple of pics with timestamps of around 11:00am, so it was around then-ish

Thanks very much JTR! I'll call the club during the week to check, but that's certainly encouraging news. Appreciated!

That was my interpretation too. No point going too early on the contact drills. Get his fitness and touch up now and test the shoulder out closer to the time - gives the maximum chance of him being ready. I'm expecting him as an 'in' based on that.

Hogan is a longer shot to return I think.

Hogan will be an interesting one. The magpies would be unlikely you'd have to think but the following game would have to be a chance as it gives him two and half weeks to get into the routine of training.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
