Oivey. Why do you bother? I really don't know. You aren't a Catholic by any chance are you? ;)

It takes talent though.  Serious talent that he's worked on over the years - he can turn any point, any thread or any topic into something he can have a dig at the club about.  He can draw a bow so long that you almost can't believe it and then.... twang.

I love watching Josh Kennedy play. Love that hes still that traditional full forward that actually leads to the ball carrier.

Hope Hogan and Weideman are watching.

It's not 2012.

If Tom Boyd had your grandmother's hairstyle he'd be Tyrone Vickery.

Except Boyd was BOG in a winning GF and Vickery had done SFA forever

The Eagles' ball use is far, far superior to ours.

Gee, Darling is a softie though. Looks tough, but plays like an under 12.

Let's not stick the boots into the Catholics !!!  What have we ever done to anyone to anyone??

WTF does that mean?

If you're just going to look for the negatives, it's akin to Catholic psychology. Give it up if you can't find any positives.

We have been having a crack Sir it's just been our disposal, lack of leadership and decision making that continually screws us over.

Did we really have a crack in the First Half against Essendrug?

3rd Quarter against the Shockers?

first Quarter last week against Whorethorn?

i say we didn't to AFL Standard

I am waiting to see the players earn their wages over 4 Quarters.

F$$@ George Pell and the Catholic Church mate. You can read your own cloud fairy book if that turns you on

And here I was thinking I'd tune into this thread to view some commentary about tonight's game. ..

silly me

We could really learn from the Eagles' forward entries. They almost always kick to the advantage of the forwards.

Kennedy's a good player, but he's not a great player. The ball use is so, so good that it makes him look a lot better than he is. He leads to the right spots.

He may get some good ball use, but the bloke is a gun.  You don't win Coleman Medals, and I want to emphasize the 'medals' part, unless you are a seriously good player.  You aren't giving him nearly enough credit.

I gave him the credit of being a good player. He's just not a great player to me. He and Darling get silver service week on week.

So if we're basing a forward's ability on the ball use they get from the midfield, who is a great player then?  I'm assuming then that Buddy is just a 'good' player in your book due to the silver service the Swans give him?  Same goes for someone like Jeremy Cameron as well?

Kennedy just a good player.

Yeah right...

Buddy is a genius. He doesn't just rely on the midfield to get him the ball with little lead up marks, often uncontested (like Kennedy - who for the record, is a very smart player). Buddy is in a completely different class. One of the great forwards in the game.

Cameron is a little lazy to be honest. He hasn't reached his potential yet. He's a good player at this stage.

This game is interestingly poised. The Bulldogs remind me very much of Melbourne tonight. They haven't really looked like it all night. They've stuck around though and now that the Eagles have missed a few easy ones, they're giving themselves a chance with bold ball movement. The difference between the Bulldogs and Melbourne at the moment is that they know how to win these types of games, as we will in time too.

Kennedy is the smartest forward in the competition.  The reason he gets so many lead up marks is how well he uses his leading patterns to do so.  He reads the play so well up the ground and this allows him to get so many of those lead up marks.

I won't change your mind, and we'll agree to disagree, but Kennedy is alongside Buddy as the best forwards in the comp, and that makes him at the very least a great player.

Caleb Daniel, The Bont & Eastern Wood unreal tonight

lol Eagles player drops the ball red handed and ump calls play on as its happening without watching or waiting ....wth

How clean is Caleb Daniel below his knees? That low centre of gravity.

I thought he was average (by his standards) tonight and Yeo got the better of that contest.

Yep Daniel is turning into one of my favourite non Melbourne players. So clean and always does something useful with the ball. No carry on or dyed hair or antics. Just a bloody good footballer

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
