The difference might also be because Goodwin coached them and had input into recruiting.

Charlie Cameron leaving the Crows too.

Brett Burton is probably crying in a corner somewhere.

Or punching holes in the walls. If you bite the hand that feeds you, so to speak. Treating players like trash does has it down falls.

2 first round picks for Charlie.

He's contracted, Burton will want 4 first round picks

Whether it be Cameron Mooney, Leigh Matthews, or Dwayne Russell, many in the media are complaining about Jake Lever's decision to leave the Crows after just 3 years.

I won't bother mentioning Scott Thompson, and I recognise there are some differences with his move, but what about Josh Caddy leaving the Suns after just two years ?  He was pick 7 in the 2010 draft and wanted out after his two year contract was up.

Not a word in the media.

I know there will be other examples, but it appears there's selective outrage in the AFL industry.

I don't understand. If Lever is out of contract, why do we have to give the Crows anything at all for him?

Because otherwise he goes into the draft and clubs don't like screwing over other clubs generally.

And let’s be real, it won’t be two first rounders. They deal will get done

Agree with that. I also noticed the media outrage, yet plenty of others as you mentioned seem to go through easily.

I just feel that some clubs are not strong against the treatment they receive and hence it continues.

I don't recall media outrage against Treloar, Adams or Boyd leaving GWS.

For that matter I don't recall any media outrage against number 9 of the Giants leaving us after 2 years and in effect signing to leave after 1 year.

Just let it go mate.

Interesting, quality ready mades preferred to the TAC under 18  lottery. Hawthorn been on to it for years and overlaid the family club salary rubbish as well.

Unless the initial kids draft period is extended to 4/5 years could be heaps of fun for those Victorian clubs who truly bottom out.

Maybe a boom and bust cycle after a period.

Expect pay disparity between top players and lesser light minnows to widen now that the trade thing really opens up.

Of course there is. Those three are pathetic.

Where was the moral  outrage on Scully multiplied a thousand times for the lies to Jimmy ?

I didn't include Scully, because there were exemptions when GWS and Gold Coast entered the competition.

Adelaide lost Davis, Footscray Ward, us the Rodent.

So different circumstances, even if just as galling from a MFC point of view.

Apologies - I no longer know their names - immediately put them on ignore.

Pick 10 and change, and defend the kid to the hilt with these mercenary charges.

False charges by a bitter Adelaide Crows franchise.

Do they not realise he is from Vic?  Scott Thompson is a mercenary too then.

I don't recall any outrage when Mooney left North and Dwayne left Port Adelaide for that matter. And Matthews was just hated by every other Team anyway.......

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
