This would be the Trade of the Century for the Demons. I like Frost's run but he is limited. I also stress that were Frost to remain I'd also be happy. Many limited players have been involved in premierships: Graeme Wise, Sheedy's love child Kevin Walsh etc etc

So the hyperhetical trade would be our first pick and sam frost? Surely that's a Major win for us to land a bloke like lever.

I'd prefer to hang on to Frost, but I guess he ends up being the odd man out with the two McDonald boys and potentially Lever.  We would also have Garland for another year and Keilty on the rookie list.

Surely we would pay out Garland (and then maybe Casey could draft him in a player / development coach role)? I would also be happy to hang on to Frost and maybe throw in a second round pick as a sweetener for Adelaide.

No problems with retaining Keilty on the rookie list for a further year.

Possibly, but what harm does it do to have him there for another year?  He has enough experience that he could come in and fill a gap for a few weeks if we have an injury or two.  We will have rookie list spots so you could theoretically stick another tall player there if you needed it.

We possibly don't need Garland  if we retain Frost and get Lever. My suggestion was that we retain him 'off the MFC books' and let him continue the role that he has been playing at the Casey Demons!

Love the thought of Lever but Frost would be a big loss.

I agree, but it may come down to this:

Lever or Frost.  I know who we would all take.

I do not know why we should be trading our first round pick as we already had done that this year. I f we keep trading out our First round we will lose a base for our development.

Having said that we must recognise that TMac,Omac, Jayden Hunt all were lower draft picks BUT Oliver ,Petracca and Brayshaw,Salem and Tyson were all high draft picks.

I just do not see why we should be throwing the Southern Stand at a defender when we really need an outside mid. But then we have Brayshaw potentially , Salem &Watts if they were tried in that role and Stretch, ANB ,JKH as possibles

Such a tough one, you have to give to get but I think Frosty has something that would be tough to lose. His pace for his size is exceptional, if he can tidy up he disposal some and keep the intensity high then he is a lock for each game. I'd have him ahead of Oscar.

I wouldn't like to see frost leave he is still a valuable player. Getting Lever would be great which means that O'Mac may have to play wing alternating defence when required. Players have to be versatile Pedo rucks, forward and defends like T,Mac etc. Players who are unable to adapt to changes may be left out. J.Smith and Maynard will become mids/whatever. We need a tough nut FP player who can create havoc,Petracca might fit the bill. We need to replemish our ruck stocks with the view of giving Gawn a rest every now and then.

If Lever nominates us to come home, then we may do Frost for Lever as a swap?  Seem to remember we let them have Armstrong for a steal because he wanted to go home.  Normally if the player nominates a club, they get it done.  Sam Frost would be valuable enough for a like-for-like, with the pressure of losing him for nothing.  (*Perhaps I'm dreaming...)

I think you are dreaming a little bit as Lever is definitely a lot better player than Frost.  Still, Frost did show a bit early this year.

Would be wonderful if we could keep our first rounder somehow and maybe Frost out could assist here

Whats with the obsession with keeping the first pick? Who knows, it could still be pick 18! Would trade out all our picks for lever!

But seriously, those wanting frost too.. he might not be happy playing in 2s for most of the year if he stays right?

Think we gave Armstrong away cause he was no good.  Scott Thompson though.....

I reckon Frost is part of the deal. It's the only plausible reason he would have put contract negotiations on hold till the end of the season.

Frost, who would be around the mark of their best 22 without Lever, and out first round pick this year would easily get it done.

You heard it hear first...

Agreed, but the truth of the matter is you need to give something of quality to get quality in return.

I quite like how our backline is shaping up, and Frost possesses athletic qualities that simply cannot be replaced.  However, I cannot deny that Lever is at a standard and quality that not many on our list possess.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
