No.

The umpiring was horrendously one-sided but made no difference to the result (save to say that the free kick paid against Vince for an "arm chop" at the end of the second quarter was a disgrace and cost us momentum and a goal).

Gawn has driven so much of our improvement this year.  Another bona-fide ruckman (Spencer is our only other one) should have played 10++ games with him this year. 

Gawn was burned out today. 

Ruckmen who have to carry it all alone often only have one great year before burning out, E.G. Jamar 2010.  Gawn's needed serious help, and I don't mean someone giving him a "cop out".

Sadly the Geelong game has no significance now. So [censored] off with the MFC I don't think I'll bother watching.

Michie is cooked. Match-day coaching is still a worry, leadership similar. Such incredibly poor decision making all day - we certainly seem to mirror the quality of the teams we play. At least that'd make us difficult if we ever made finals!

On 693 Dom Tyson acknowledged that the Blues were 'hot' from the outset, particularly Cripps and Gibbs, then duly commented that 'we didn't address it'.....wtf were you going to do about it, Dom?

You could tell from the opening contest that we weren't switched on. Just like last year. And just the Essendon game, both St Kilda games. Similar to the second GC game too.

Leadership was woeful today. We don't have many leaders but Vince and Jones were both horrendous today. Vince has a disgusting habit of lairising and taking the easy/quick option when we are playing lesser opposition. Viney and Gawn are leaders and neither player anywhere near their best.

All three selection decisions were questionable at the time and with the benefit of hindsight were all wrong. Weideman should never have played, he wasn't fit enough when we played Hawthorn to get through a half, let alone the whole game. With a finals spot on the line this was not the game to be giving a friendly run to a kid with an eye on 2017. He wasn't up to it in any way today. His future looks bright but today was not the day to play him. Pedersen would have made a huge difference as he would have been able to compete where Weideman couldn't, and it would have in turn provided Hogan with a chop out. As it was, Hogan was forced up the ground and had no options closer to goal when he was making it at half-forward.

I hope the embarrassment of this loss is some sort of motivation for 2017.

Hogan took 14 marks, ran all day, and was forced by reason of Weideman's lack of fitness to play both CHF and FF. 

He played a good game in circumstances where he had no support and the majority of his teammates were playing woefully.

Poorly directed criticism, IMO.

He may have taken 14 marks but did bugger all with the ball, slow decision making and zero defensive efforts. We would have structured up better with Pederson instead of him and Weiderman as well as the rest of the forward line would have been the better for it. Hogan's adds very little to our forward structure.

Absolute and complete rubbish.

Weideman was appallingly useless today. It's not for a lack of talent, it's fitness, and I'm a fan of his and look forward to him being a mainstay of our side in 2017 and beyond. But due to him being completely incapable of getting to contests, Carlton was able to sit on Hogan all afternoon. He was forced to run up the ground to give us an option bringing the ball out of the backline. He worked hard all day, and other than his goal-kicking his disposal was fine.

The anti-Hogan crap on this board is getting out of control.

Hogan - Slashing thousands off his contract with each week that goes by...No idea what the hell is going on with his goal kicking as a KPF not being able to slot it with confidence from 40+ is disgusting.
I don't mind losing (I still hate it and it upsets me) when we should lose, we can always take something from that...but when we lose to a team that has lost 9 on the trot with so much to play for is so bloody typical of this club it isn't funny.
I said yesterday that I didn't feel good about today and was proven right, just like both saints games, the first port game, and the Essendon game this stuff will always be sewn into the fabric of the club, it's just something that we have to accept in being a mediocre team.
I don't want to be the next Richmond, I want to be the next Hawthorn, Geelong, Swans.

This season is a success to me, I said 10 wins at the start of the year was a pass and we have achieved that, lets not let today dampen our triumphs this season over GWS, Hawks, port at home and another top 4 team being GWS.
 

Hogan did a lot more than Weideman, however Weideman shouldn't have been picked ahead of Pedo

I seriously thought we were past games like this. We weren't turned on from the start but the Blues didn't look like they'd blow us away after that head start. This should've been a scrappy win but no one stepped up when we had the chances

You get smashed in the clearances by Cripps and Gibbs and leave them unmanned.

If you go back and have a look at the context of the criticism it might make more sense. "ProDee" as usual took any chance to absolute rubbish Watts for missing an easy goal. Hogan missed 3, yet he was defending him to the hilt.

We lost it in the middle today, particularly with clearances, I honestly don't think having Pedo instead of Weed would have made any difference to the result.

Sorry I meant more the tackles comment.

The fact he laid 0 tackles does not mean he didn't work hard all day, which he did.

Yeah gotcha. I think he picks and chooses when to put in effort, and that's what I don't like. eg - Chance for a mark = good effort. Opportunity to shepherd or tackle = barely any effort.
