Yep. And Hogan was completely unprepared for it. Dropped him and ran off. Very low act and one i's suggest the dees won't let go. I hope Viney plays next time.

Why is that 1 week? A hit behind the play surely deserves more than that!

Playing for the 'Family Club' is an automatic sentence reduction of 1 match.  Hawks as always showing young kids the right way to behave in schools and parks and drunken nights out.

Dont like somebody? Just belt them.

Pannell should be banned for the rest of the season.

Send a message and actually have these umpires called out for once for that dirty work.

DD, if you have a look at the clip of Bernie's "report" on the MFC website, it shows an extended version of the play.  If you have a look at the 16-17 second mark, you can actually see that Pannell isn't actually looking at Bernie when the "incident" happened.  He more paid both the 50m and the report based on Squealer Smith's reaction, which totally sucked Pannell in.

I remember thinking it at the time that Pannell wasn't actually watching Bernie, and just responded to Smith's sooking.  The clip on the MFC site just confirms it.

Joke.

As he should be. The muppet umpire who reported him should be suspended for incompetence.

And did you see Mitchell slide the knee into bernie's head on the outer wing? I hate the Hawks

Jones charged with wrestling once again. He's forking over some cash so far this year... Does anyone know if subsequent wrestling charges can ever result in suspension, not just a financial penalty?

I don't think you can ever get suspended for wrestling.

I think the penalty maxes out at $4,000. That's probably why Jones keeps 'flying the flag'.

Immediately after the report, Smith brushed the umpire aside to goad Vince.  I thought umpire contact was not permitted.

It is especially unecessary in this incident.

So that's three umpiring blues confirmed from that game and every one went against us: the free in front of goal to the head ducking squib, Bernie's report and 50 metre penalty, and the non-report on the gutless Ceglar.

God I hope we do them in the return match.

That umpire is a joke. He is a blight on the game, and his need to get his ugly head on TV constantly is getting boring.

[censored] him off.

EDIT:- Beware weak gutted friends - Attached is a computer graphic that depicts something almost as vile as bad umpiring!

EXPERIENCED umpire Troy Pannell has found time to laugh about being in the spotlight after he paid 17 free kicks to the Western Bulldogs and just one to Adelaide last Saturday night.

Keen to move on from the controversy, Pannell told K-Rock radio that laughter was the best way to cope with the scrutiny that inevitably comes an umpire's way when the free-kick count is lopsided.

"For me, I tend to laugh about it a little bit. It makes it a little bit easier," Pannell said after visiting Geelong umpires on Wednesday night.

"People blow up photos and put them on your desk. You really need to laugh it off."

That's a fairly disturbing gif.

I've seen more disturbing gifs.

These are usually sent from Bitter phone and are good at inducing a vomiting response.

I keep them handy in case I accidentally ingest something toxic.

Bloody Nora that is one revolting gif Mandy. You should post a warning beforehand. After all, Melbourne are the new and improved family club.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
