Some server software upgraded

Hi all,

I've updated some software this moinning in the back of the server.  There shouldn't be anything noticeably different, but please post in this thread if you do come across any new issues (yes - I broke the site for about 1/2 hour while doing it).

Did IT fix the problem with typing any letter after I as the first letter In a word Nash.... oh wait dw I have the answer to that :-)

Not related to this software update but wanted to raise an issue I've experienced 2 or 3 times this last month.

When using my mobile (android) to access demonland I've encountered a suspicious pop-up that hijacks the page saying my device is at risk or infected. I've been able to remove the pop-up without clicking on anything and scanning my device with my own anti-virus software says my phone is safe. Not sure if this random pop-up is an issue on my end or not but thought I'd let you know about it.

I'll take this time to say thanks for the efforts you and other admin/moderators put in to running this site. I'm also glad there's no feature that logs how many hours I've spent reading on here.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but this is the pop-up I've been getting on occasion lately. Despite what it says, I have not visited adult websites (seriously, I haven't... That's what the laptop is for) and it only opens up while browsing demonland.

Again I'm not sure if this is something on my end or if it's a potential problem with the site, but it's a potential risk with the pop-up wanting the user to download an "app" which is probably malicious.

Nascent, I've got an iPhone which I regularly use to stay updated on DL, I don't get this popup. For info only...

Nascent, It has popped up a number of times on my Samsung phone over the last few months.  It substitutes 'Samsung' for 'Sony' on your message. Interestingly, the first few times were in Europe on the TIM (Italy's equivalent to Telstra) network and more recently in Australia on Amaysim(Optus?) network.  Don't know if that is relevant at all

Sometimes it is mighty stubborn to shut down.

Maybe it just attacks Android devices...

Interesting. I got similar popups when in Italy 2 weeks ago, I figured I got a virus or malware from an unsecured wifi network.

Since returning home, factory resetting and reinstalling, I have not had an issue.

Me too.

I blame Eddie

It first happened to me in early May so not from software upgrade.

Wondering if it could piggy-back on one of the ads...I'm not always logged in on phone, so get heaps of ads.

Not related to the software upgrade but not worthy of a new thread either:

I'm unable to delete some attachments to clear upload space because the threads have been deleted. Is there anyway these attachments can be cleared?

Ethan. Pretty sure you can delete them yourself.

Click on the menu button (hamburger) choose account then my attachments. You should be able to clear them

I think I've freed up some space for you by deleting images of yours that have been in posts that have had to have been hidden from view for various reasons.

Thanks DL, it worked wonderfully.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
