I've heard that Matty Jones actually dislocated a rib. Never heard of that happening before and it sounds bloody painful. He's likely to miss 1-2 more.

Spoke to him yesterday it's actually 3-4 weeks more his out for

Good to see Jake Lovett get 27 possies in the wet today.  The conditions would have suited his style of play, but hopefully with some form he can sneak his way back into the senior team.

I assume Brayshaw is being rested again. I hope it is not a longer term concussion, he really seemed out of sorts in his last comeback game. He would be a huge loss if there were long term implications for us here.

Let him rest a week or two or three if needed.  Just get him right.

Briggs soccers a goal through in the goal square (think it was a long Newton kick). So 3.1. to 0.0. Trenners kicked the point.

Newton comes off for interchange and already has quite a few mud trophies on his body.

The Weed opens his account. Looks superior in the air. Bit of a wobbly kick but nothing wrong with his style at all. Looks nice and smooth for a big guy.

Newton Trenners and ANB all roving Spencer. That's actually a good looking unit.

Geez, not trying to say 'i picked this' but Newton is really on fire. In absolutely everything early in the game, like ANB was the last few weeks.

Posted

Has become much more congested and a lot of players around the ball. O-Mac doing a couple of nice things in terms of pressure. Trenners seems to be around the pack at all times.

Newton doing well, some good 1%'s from Grimes.

Jackson Briggs with a free kick from 20m out. From memory didnt he kick a few last week as the 23rd man? Kicks his 2nd goal.

Terlo racing through the centre with 2 kicks in an excellent give and go effort. Leads to a goal. Well done Dean.

First blood to Max King - goal.

Pretty fair effort from a guy my iPhone app (Footy Live) tells me is out for the season with a knee injury. And it must be true, because the same app says Mitch King is out for the season with a knee injury, too.

Grimes also spending time in the middle and getting a few good quick possessions.

when I say middle it's mostly throw in contests.

Also just had Newton go in and under and handball out to ANB  for a clearance. Those guys look like they work really well together.

Very one sided at qtr time though the scores under play that a bit.

Big break at the end of the first term.

Casey Scorpions 5.3.33 to Northern Blues 0.1.1

Goals Briggs 2 Grimes King Weideman

Disposals - Newton 13, Dunn 8, Neal-Bullen 7.

bjDee looks like Frost is playing forward. Are you able to confirm please?

Frost was full time in defence that qtr. Actually showed some good strength and pace earlier, but was crucified by the commentators for a soccer and follow up that ended in a free the other way.

The defenders are not seeing much of the ball to be fair. It's not coming their way a whole lot.

Thanks BJDee. Glad to see. Would love to see him back there in the AFL. Cannot imagine it is a good day for talls or defenders.

Let's hope he stays there and gets a consistent block where he can play his preferred position!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
