Jenkins would be a bargain at $200k’s in our forward line

2 goals per game

Nobody was remotely close to that in 2019

Get the Crows to pay 70% of his ridiculous contract

Thanks very much

If that was the case and he is a late pick, it’s a steal and it gives us time to develop ours and recruit  others. Would solve our needed extra key forward for a year or two.

Exactly as long as Adelaide pay the contract they signed off on.

We need goals. It doesn’t have to look pretty. Goodwin is mad if he doesn’t take this guy if no one else is interested

Surely there’d be interest if Adelaide are willing to pay all of his wage minus $200k a season. I don’t know if I believe that figure, I reckon Adelaide are looking at offloading Jenkins and a significant amount of his salary as well. Or are asking too much pick wise?

Currently we have one established key forward, one developing key forward and a few mid sized makeshift forwards. Unless we have another alternative, given the Crows paying most of his salary and costing a late pick,  he is an easy fix to a problem, while looking  for a longer term solution.

This is exactly what they are doing with Betts at Carlton. Deal is almost done.

Hope they can do it wit Jenkins

i would expect the sticking point for any prospective suitor is that the crows are prepared to trade him for bupkiss BUT they don't want to pay his wage

Then there is no deal...

Simple.

Since he is contracted they have two options, pay part of his contract or all of it.

You have to pay a portion of his salary, yes but what about the draft pick involved?

2 years left on his 800k contract?

Yes he would be at that price, No way they are going to pay 600k for a player on someone elses list without a decent draft pick in return.

Exactly, that was my point above. Either they’re asking too high a draft pick for him or the report Adelaide are willing to pay all but 200k is false.

Then they are stuck with a Player who wants out.

Jenkins could be a trade for next week.

We could get a bargain if we play it right

Not only that, but they want him out.

Yes that’s right. They want him out

On our terms, otherwise “Thankyou, Goodbye...”

So we should be able to negotiate a reasonable $ amount and a reasonable draft pick.

Better than should. We hold all the Cards.

I will be very peeved if we don’t have a serious crack at this guy for such a small salary.

$200,000 per year is a rookie wage

Permanent Forward...

Yes, and look I understand the knock on him but if he can kick 40+ goals for us he can sit in the goal square all day long. How many forwards kick 40+ goals. Of coarse the risk is will he perform to that level, but at the right price it's worth the gamble.

He started his career as a 23 year old in 2012, so hopefully that bodes well for his longevity next year as a 31 year old forward, should we pick him up cheap as chips

40 goals is 40 goals. He can kick them from inside the goal square, it doesn’t matter.

Our best return this year was 22 goals from Tracc!!

we are in no position to be pedantic about whether this guy kicks cheap goals.

They are all worth 6 points! :)

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
