Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I just realised and threw up in my mouth a little

We're wearing our white away guernsey. It's horrible. We don't look tough in it and it sucks watching the highlights. Not good to use any great marks or goals for branding or marketing when wearing it. I wish they'd wear the red one.

Just need to put the scary demon face back on it, I reckon.

True. although I think we do clash with Carlton, which would make the red jumper an idea choice ... but you would have to be as blind as Razor Ray to think our jumper clashes with West Coast, Freo or Port ...

I agree but i also accept that their home jumpers are mainly "dark" colours being blue purple and black...

Red would be perfect against these teams.

so it's not a dead issue at all, nasher. i'll give you point 1 but

To me it is dc.  My ambivalence towards the strange double standard is probably driven by the fact that a) I don't mind the white, I think it looks okay, and b) I just don't give a fig about being made to wear a different guernsey in the first place. The double standard has no practical impact on me whatsoever, so I'm happy to just ignore it.

We tend to win in the white strip too.

Play the way we did last week throughout the season and we won't need to worry about fixturing next year.

It's an unfortunate part of the AFL beast. It's not fair. But it's the way it works.

Have similar numbers to the 28,000 that rocked up against a team with an entire supporter base numbering at most 1,500 in the entire country, and we'll have little to worry about next year RE: fixturing. The more I've been thinking about it, the more outstanding that attendance seems. The Hawks managed 18,000 against GWS two years ago on the 'G. We managed it during a school holiday period, where many families would have gone away too. I'm sure the club are quietly stoked.

I've mentioned this game before, but the game in '05 against West Coast at the 'G had an attendance of just under 36,000. Incredible against an interstate side. They're Collingwood-like numbers. Those lapsed MFC supporters are out there. If we can really build some momentum in the first 12 or so games, we may just crack that 40,000 membership tally and expect to see crowds rise even further.

The red one is no longer in existence unfortunately. The club shelved it after the AFL only approved using it against two teams (or so they were saying at the Demonshop when I was there last week).

Shame, I really liked it.

Total BS. There's no way it would clash with teams with a TINY BIT of red in them. We were 'forced to wear' our white against teams that have bits of white in their jumpers. In the case of St.Kilda it looks like it clashes more. Meanwhile Carlton  V Richmond play and Carlton can wear their (practically black, especially on tv) guernsey for the sake of tradition! We are the most traditional damn club of them all, if we want a red guernsey we should be able to have it.

That said I think our red guernsey last season was a bit boring looking, needed some kind of blue stylised into it as we just looked like Sydney from the back

True. But it would be interesting to see how many of the Power Ranger ones they sold compared to other versions they had in past years.

But talking about our clash jumpers, I haven't minded most of them. Wasn't a huge fan of that grey one circa 2007 though.

Apparently they've sold very well.

I don't have an issue with the clash jumper at all. My issue is with the AFL fixturing us against Essendon once a year and it being their home game each time - seemingly every year of late.

I'd just like to see Essendon wear a clash jumper against us in our home game. Even just once.

Until this happens I believe it's an AFL/Essendon agreement to avoid this happening.

Things that still surprise me:

1) That people hate the white so much
2) That people still post the red guernsey when it's clear it's never going to happen.
3) That people resent the AFL so much for imposing a rule that clearly makes sense from a watchability perspective.

*shrug* I'm looking forward to see our white clad team roll Essendon in their traditional colours.

4. That people could care about guernseys at all, as if it is a fashion show not a game of footy

I could be wrong, but I think I read/heard somewhere that the MCC requests Melbourne play only away games to Carlton and Essendon and that they must be at the MCG. I think is to ensure we play as many MCG games as possible.

The Sash is in the Essendon Charter, they can't play in anything else. We should do the same.

they could play in yellow and brown and still not win this year!

I like the red and blue reversed. Long day are the days where mud made it indeterminable. Bring back the muD!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
