I think the list of players who did not make the trip will be the most interesting.

IMO if you ain't on this trip your chances of playing in the early part of 2016 must be slim.

Pardon me interrupting with some discussion about the Melbourne Football Club but it's a fact that the team has arrived on the Sunshine Coast and were working hard today.

Here's proof.

Geez Maxy looks impressive with that beard! Hope it's a big year for him!

An 8 day camp with the coaches and support staff, surely all the players will be up there? If Petracca is in his moonboot I think everyone else should be. But I do agree mostly with the idea that if you aren't doing a fair bit of the training at the camp then your chances of playing early are reduced.

On the injury front I'll be keen to know if Ben Newton is out doing any running because from the one photo of him boxing on the club twitter he looks super lean and fit.

Damn, Big Max is a beast isn't he?  I'm impressed with how cut vandenBerg  is looking too, he's really dropped that bit of weight he was carrying last year.

A much cooler morning than last year. Already about 100 here. Noticed Petracca's boot and Tyson without any tape on legs for a change! More to come...

Just heard assistant coach speaking to Hogan, "Take it easy for a while, I think I'll pull you out of the handball stuff and take you over on the back oval"?

Frost, Vince, Dawes, Jetta, H, Trengove in rehab group on back oval

we'll have to rename the rehab group to the dawes group

Thanks for the updates guys. I was hoping to pop up there this morning from Brisbane, however the kids and wife stole the cars! Keep it going.

Big tackle on Watts from Gawn in handball drill and Watts didn't appreciate it... came back aggressively. stretch & Kent stood out

Thank you so much for the live updates

Main group in half ground simulation now. Quick ball movement some long kicking out of defense. Dunn, Watts & Salem looking good. H and Trengove doing short speed handball on back oval.

Is Watts bringing the ball out or receiving?

Main group divided into three now for 6 v 4 keeping a off. Tyson, Kent, Pederson & Brayshaw in own group for short kicking. Stretch & Gawn looking rest in their group. Stretch kicking top class.

Been working hard for over an hour now. Crowd built up to over 200 now. A few of the hardest trainers looking stuffed! Jones tackled Hunt and slung him to the ground before to give him a taste of what it is like with the big boys!

Hard to even recognize this team from the one a few years back when Roos took over....

Great run from behind on VandenBurg by Oliver. Weideman playing deep forward v McDonald boys. Pederson good in ruck and play on. Salem kicks long, Weideman flies high, crumb to Kent goal square, off ground GOAL!!!!!

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
