I've a sneaking suspicion we may give this bloke a lifeline.

23, former top 20 pick, never showed much as a defender but has shown glimpses as a forward. (Including the game against us).

He's got a mature body, a nice shot at goal and he'd provide some good depth and competition for Dawes and Pedo which in theory would improve training and playing form of both those two. Even if we end up drafting a young KPF at pick 3 or 7, you'd think that player spends most of the year at Casey unless he's tearing it up every week.

I'm sure there'll be mostly negative responses to the proposed idea but we wouldn't be giving much up and we're pretty light on for KPF. I'd be happy to pick him up with pick 50 in this years draft if he were still there.

id honestly rather Max King push in for a game if our injuries require it and at pick 50 take a speculative pick on an athlete rather than someone with poor movement and a real lack to actually do much with the football.

He was a player who benefited from playing people his own age in 18s and was much larger than most, but had no real athletic prowess leading for him to stagnate at AFL level.

It'd be a very Paul Roos pick up. Got a bit of the Ted Richards' about it. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'll personally be surprised if we take a tall with 3 or 7 as I think Roos' mantra is to bring in the talls when they've developed, rather than spending 5 years developing them.

McDonald, Garland and Frost are swingmen. Frost is certainly not a natural forward and Garland and McDonald have played 99% of their AFL careers as defenders and I really don't like the idea of either of them moving forward next year in any sort of capacity. They need to be our rocks next year as defenders.

It just makes sense to throw a bloke like him a lifeline. King needs to keep maturing and next year it'd be nice to see him play some really solid VFL firsts football.

Most teams have 4 + natural kpf. We don't and we need backup until we unearth another really talented player.

Watson is a safe backup with the potential to be a handy player forward. Especially if Dawes or Pedo break down again.

Not entirely against the idea but I can't remember ever watching him (or noticing him) but his description on line sounds OK as a depth player. Not a long term solution but may see us through the next few years. My biggest downside is that I think he either needs to come in on a rookie spot or we need to delist a player to make way for him as we have 4 spots on the main list left, one for Harmes, one for pick three, one for pick 7, and I think the other needs to go to a speculative 18 year old at pick 50.

I am a little torn about who I would delist from the current group and replace with him. Terlich is about the only one that comes to mind.

I will say yes only to be picked up as a forward not a defender. He is putrid down back. Interstingly he was actually alright against us this year at CHF.

Can't see why they would cut fitzy and pick Watson up.

Actually I can. Cutting fitz frees up a spot on the list. If they rookie Watson the free spot remains. Is that right?

If so perhaps worth a punt if nothing else catches our eye draft wise

Certainly worth a look if he's still there at Pick 24 of the Rookie Draft.

I have never been a fan, but listening to him being interviewed on the radio this morning only cemented my view that it is a definite no.

Seemed almost disinterested, coached on what to say (but not well) and wasn't convincing in the slightest that he'd do what it will take to salvage his career.

Andy Maher even tried to help him out by putting words in his mouth to the effect that he was putting the blame squarely on his own shoulders for failing at Carlton, but it was to no avail.
