Through Strawberry Fields??

Ok, that's enough of the Beatles puns, time to let it be.

Not when everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey!

If anyone thinks that Grimes for Lennon would be accepted by Richmond or that these Beatles puns are funny, they did too many drugs in the 60s

Fine, fine.

... what if we throw in Terlich?

Was never there

Due to the drugs?

I wouldn't be so hasty in letting go of Terlich. He's been quietly working on his craft in the VFL and I have a feeling he'll have a break-out season next year and those doubting the wisdom of his two year extension will end up with egg on face.

... said no one ever.

They dropped him for Griffiths I think? So it was more of a "match up" thing as they wanted to go tall forward with Riewoldt, Vickery and Griffiths to stretch north's defence.

Didn't work and I think if they had their time again they would go with Lennon over Griffiths. A lot of Richmond supporters weren't happy when the change was made and even more annoyed in hindsight.

Strange that :-)) Cards in microwaves??

I like the idea of McCartney working with Lennon again.

Shifting the discussion to the works of Lennon himself, if you had gone the other way it may have got wings!

So you say you want a revolution.

Just as well his surname isn't Rudd, I mean Lenin.

Lennon looks like he might be heading for the pre season draft. Carlton are front runners to snag him for free.

If the tigers can't sign him soon I expect they will listen to all offers rather than let him walk to Carlton for free.Carlton in his ear, will be interesting to see what happens here.

If I was Richmond, I'd just trade him to Carlton for Yarran & their 3rd Round Pick.

Say to Carlton, you wanted a 1st Round Pick for Yarran? Here he is, so how about you throw a 3rd rounder our way also for the two years development already put in.

They're not that smart though Richmond, so I expect him to walk into the PSD.

Strikes as the more sane outcome also. JG for Lennon. Keep it simple.

Richmond dont have a lot of love for the Bluebaggers and wont want to do them any favours.. Dealing is dealing but the Tiges wont be allowing freebies.

Can someone please explain to me why Lennon is being shopped around and threatened to walk in the PSD? He was pick 12 in the draft and has come on alright.. Why are Richmond not doing what they can to retain this bloke on their list?

Because the Tiges are worse at list management than us and that's saying something!

I thought players could go into the national draft if they wished, just like Luke Ball did when he wanted to get to Collingwood, rather than go into the PSD. Is this no longer a thing?

It's reported that the Tigers want to keep him and he wants to stay, so the issue must be contract terms.

Surely if Lennon is a chance to walk to the psd tigers would prefer a trade?

Either Lennon is chasing a few more dollars, or Richmond is low balling him. The truth is probably somewhere in between, and they could both be a fair way apart. I expect that MFC will ask the question. Lennon is a classy player, it was a toss up (in my mind) between Salem and Lennon at pick 9 for us.

I think we got the better...but wouldnt mind the lesser

Is Lennon really the sort of player we want? Firstly, he clearly has tickets on himself if he is expecting a massive pay rise after playing 9 games this year for 11 disposals per game . Secondly, I don't see him as a genuine midfielder and he's clearly not a key position player, so how does he fill a pressing need for us?

I think the issue with his pay is that Rich offered base fee plus match payments.

He and his management want a more guaranteed income.

I think it is stingy of Richmond to offer a game based contract.

The kid has shown he can play very well at AFL in just his second year.

Also, he has no direct control over how many senior games as it is up to the match committee, injuries etc.

Rich should wake up to themselves and it will teach them a lesson if they lose him over penny pinching.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
