NFI more like one of the best clubs in the land , they would be saying [censored] Melbourne they can wait send that [censored] to the PSD

Not talking about Collingwood. I'm talking about Trade Radio and their two different reports on what order these 2 deals will go down.

The Adelaide - Seedsman - Collingwood deal seems independent of the rest?

As others have said - hard to see why Port would add the 49 to 62 upgrade for us, especially when GC are asking for more than 10 for Dixon and 49 could be handy there. So Toumpas for 29 (or even with the 49/62 swap) is independent too.

Then it's just Howe for 26 + Kennedy.

Three independent trades - can't see why they aren't happening.

I can see the Pies being the sticking point. They wouldn't want to give up Kennedy and pick 26. They'd be offering up 28 instead.

Teams have to bid for both Hooper AND Kennedy in the top 6 for GWS to have to use 8. With Mills in there to be bid as well, it may not happen and 8 will be a live pick for GWS.

Roger that. Unlikely if we want pick 8 that we will bid on anyone except Mills with our earlier pick 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink'

Looks to me a bit like this yeah? Obviously it might change between 3,4 and 5.

Excluding Academy picks

1. Carlton - Weitering

2. Brisbane - Schache

3. Gold Coast - Parish

4. Essendon - Francis

5. Saints - Curnow

6. Dees - Balic, Weideman, Milera?

Academy picks

Sydney - Mills

GWS - Hopper

GWS - Kennedy

I'm torn. I think Parish could be a terrific if not consistant midfielder with more potential then the already impressive player he is.

But having a creative player AND a possible key position player moving forward would be great also

Gold Coast really keen on Francis and Curnow. Not so much on Parish.

Well there's information and there's disinformation and then there's the sound of people filling in dead air time speculating when no one gives them anything.

Chook, yeah you're right I sort of just put him there because I'm sure Melbourne would pick him up if they were able to get Gold Coasts 3rd pick

I don't see that we've got any leverage. If BOTH aren't bid on in the top 6 then GWS get to use 8 in the draft. We could threaten to bid on both to ensure they have to use the pick on them but that's hardly a good way to get them to agree to trade it to us ...

How desperate are port for Dixon?

We would have to pay way overs but how about pick 6 + Toumpas and a swap of later picks for Wines? Wines almost untouchable but if we offered Port too much to refuse then it could be like Howe being disgruntled after what happened last year with the GWS offer. Still enabling us to use a late 2nd rounder to pick up Bugg. Or maybe with the Howe 2nd rounder.

No future picks though as we need them for Prestia.

That would be considered highway robbery, not overs.

The overs would be that PLUS whatever extra.

Plus you conveniently left out the swap of later picks.

The trade period is very convoluted now. The swap of later picks could allow them to swap 2 second rounders for pick 8 for example.

I'd be happy for them to do almost anything to get Wines. I'd even be fine if it included next years first rounder.

But I think they are firm on getting Prestia.

Personally if I had to choose it would be Wines but only because of the injury cloud over Prestia other than that I'd have them as evens.

Yes... in furious agreement. My response was tongue in cheek. We obviously can't tell them that we won't bid on either of their academy picks because that would be improper. If they trade pick 8 to us - like most deals it will be done on face value and not on the basis of trusting in the other parties good intentions after the deal is signed, sealed and delivered. I think we will probably bid on Kennedy as one of the best mids in the draft.

the whole trade period is being held up by a few teams as per usual

Funny how it always seems to be Esssendon and Collingwood that do it. If it stops other teams from finalizing trades the AFL should extend trade this period by a day or two... its not fair otherwise.

They would still drag it out even further.

SEN announced that Toumpas, Howe, Seedmans, trades done. About to be official.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome for us.

I heard we were getting a second and THIRD round pics.

Didn't hear them say two second round pics.

Have a feeling we may have our pants pulled down yet again but will wait to hear confirmation.

I have lossened the belt in readiness!!

Probably not everyone's cup of tea but I generally find the trade period interesting and educational.

Sometimes by reading between lines ( that is the observance of trades..or sometimes just the offers) you can learn a bit about other teams.

Ive had to get my head around this whole contrivance of 'points', another area of learning ( still not there tbh lol )

Also shows the styles of the clubs.

The FD must really have to work all year these days to keep tabs on everything.

I wonder how often any club gets close to 100% of their Plan A ?

Reminds me a bit of theatre sports...or improv acting. Start with a premise...and hit go !!

3 days to go..Will we get it done ?

I still think we should be keeping Toumpas. I think he has much more to offer, must say I'm not too happy about this unless we also get two second round picks.

We get 2nd rounders from both Port & Collingwood + Kennedy and an extra 3rd from Port, we give up Howe, Toumpas and a pick in the 60's.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
