Demonland Player of the Year - Round 19

Featured Replies

6 Dawes. Got us back into the game when we looked like we’d lose by a hundred.

5 Hogan. This kid is going to be an absolute jet of an AFL player, if he isn’t already.

4 Tyson. Best game for the club this year. We needed it, because the rest of our mids stank.
3 Brayshaw. Our best home-grown midfielder in years.

2 Viney. Our second best home-grown midfielder in years. Bullock our midfield into action.
1 Vince. Way down on his usual form, but still played a vital midfield role.

Dishonourable mentions:
3 Garlett. Who knows what would have happened had he marked that simple chester.
2 Watts. Blew a lot of chances by being too cute.
1 Garland. Atrocious disposal.

6. Dawes

5. Hogan

4. Viney

3. Tyson

2. Gawn

1. Howe

I share my namesake Chooks contempt for the games of Garlett, Watts and Lamumba

Garlett's dropped mark? Never made a mistake on the footy field Chook? And according to your comments, Brayshaw, Viney and Vince stank.

6. Hogan - went into beast mode today

4. Dawes

6. Hogan
5. Dawes

4. Viney
3. Tyson
Thought these were the clear top 4. Found voting very difficult after this.
2. Howe
1. Cross

Edited several hours later to reverse Viney and Tyson order. Not sure why I had them in the order I did as I thought Viney was clearly our best mid.

Duly noted

You are only one of many who get this spelling wrong. Yes, I am in a bad mood. Can't work out why North Melb seem to dominate us. I'll be my usual jovial self after a few more sherbets.

I share your pain. A lot to like but it could have been so much better - too many lapses in concentration and effort from those who should know better

Not a Matt Jones fan, like most, but agree that he was quite good today.

6- Hogan

5- Viney

4- Dawes

3- Tyson

2- Gawn

1- M. Jones

I think you’ll find there are a few who agree with me on the Garlett dropped mark.

6 - Hogan. He beat Thompson and kicked more goals than Dawes.

5 - Dawes. Best game in a while. Who knows if he had have kicked straighter...

4 - Viney. Stayed in form while the others crumbled.

3 - Tyson. Found some form.

2 - Howe. Tried his hardest, some good spoils and intercepts in an abysmal defensive unit.

1 - Raffle it. No idea... Gawn? For effort and doing well in the ball ups. Was killed around the ground though.

I think you’ll find there are a few who agree with me on the Garlett dropped mark.

Ranks with the Fitz tunnel ball - and we know what happened there. If there is consistency Garlett will be lining up for Casey.

Honourable mention to Gawn, thought he fought it out well after being smashed in the first quarter.

Garland, Garlett, Watts, Lumumba all woeful.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
