Lewis Jetta

Featured Replies

I've read a few things lately about how Lewis Jetta wants out of the Swans (possibly go-home factor). What are D'landers thoughts on the possibility of hijacking a go-home move a-la Mitch Clark and signing him up. He's got pace and x-factor which we sorely need and you'd think he would fit in nicely with the other Nyoongar boys at the MFC including his cousin Nev.

Anybody got any mail on Lewis Jetta's future?

Hopefully he has more scruples than that Geelong listed player.

But seriously I am sure if he does want out, Roos who knows him all too well will evaluate his potential value and cost, and make a rational decision on whether he is needed.

Certainly an experienced finals (and premiership) player. I still remember his burn off of Cyril in that winning GF. A pivotal moment IMO.

Swans are banned from trading any players that are worth more than the AFL average of $350k so I don't think its possible. I don't think he could leave even if he wanted to. That Swans ban is an absolute disgrace. I believe if he leaves Swans it would be to go home so unlikely to go to Vic. Although as you say, look what happened with Mitch Clarke but then again look at what happened to Mitch Clarke after that scoop.

He is an absolute gun. Elite kicking skills and jet pace. Tends to drop in and out of games a bit. But can be a match winner when he's on.

Yeah right, i forgot about the Swans trading ban.

This article indicates that he is unsigned and out of contract at the end of this year (same situation as J. Howe):

If he can't be traded, then he's stuck between a rock and a hard place if he wants out of the Swans. Would have to nominate for one of the drafts I guess if he walked?

Daisy, that rings a bell, they can trade out for picks only can't they?

I thought the ban was related to trading players in too. Surely even as corrupt and reactionary a body as the AFL could not get away with a situation / ruling that prevented an uncontracted player from leaving.

This is going to sound like one of those mate's sister's best friend's cousin thing. But I have a mate that works with his old man and has been telling a few people that he is excited to have him back in W.A. next year. From what I can gather it is most likely the West Coast that will secure him but obviously Freo will be hunting him down also.

Judd's grandma's neighbor's dog walker's niece's shrink maybe? I clearly remember that the very same source was 100% certain that that photographer guy who is now at Geelong was going to Freo a few years ago.

thanks for the scoop Barra, too bad, he would have been a great potential target for us

Wonder what the Swans will want in return? A late first rounder which is all the Eagles/Dockers will be able to offer?

I'm not sure. But makes sense.

Either way will be a big blow to the Swans if he goes. Losing an experienced player for a relatively low pick in a dudd draft for a mediocre kid will be a real blow. What a lot of people don't realise about the Swans is how much of a rebuild they have already done. A few weeks ago there were 9 players in a game with 50 or less games.

Why spend $100's of millions on a new team, GWS, to promote the game in NSW while at the same time destroying the exisitng team that has a fickle following that turn off in droves once they become uncompetitive.

Hawks just go out and recruit Lake and then Frawley to fill backline holes, Swans are about to have the same holes but can't trade in players to fill them. Colless's description of Fitzpatrick's behaviour shows you just how badly that man is damaging the game. Time to go. All about his ego being out of joint over not getting his choice of Buddy to GWS.

Sydney can trade players out.

They can trade him for picks, players under the average wage or a combo of both, as I read it.

Pea Heart. Won't make Melbourne any better and will fall whenever the team looks down.

Yeah, cause we have a plentiful supply of lightning fast outside mids who use the ball well...

Quick ball movement is faster than quick running players.

Blame Roos, not the list for that issue.

Well Dion Prestia just rejected us

Time to find another target

he's a jet but he's a 28 year old jet.

would he make us better? undoubtedly in the short term.

but in the long term? there are better options.

think you'll find he's 26, da

we'll get him cheap next year when he's ooc
