Round 16 - Non MFC Games

So we have the Druggies and Norf.

Typical of the Demons luck, the bloke with the face that not even a mother could love has proved last week to be a fluke. At Shitihad stadium he has already had two shots, missed a set shot and the a snap from one meter out hit the post.

But 5 straight against us! Ah well, at least he'll always be the ugliest person in the room

These commentators are making me much happier about our performance last week. Apparently Essendon's performance was superb against us. Given how close it was, we must have been just a little short of superb.

There's certainly a few adjectives I could use to describe our performance last week, and superb doesn't fit into the equation. :(

North aren't even trying tonight and look clear winners. Aghhhhhhh!

Bombers 0.5.5 and missing everything this week.

Predictable.

And they are missing them in perfect conditions as well which makes it even more annoying!

Yep, that Daniher pulled off that display last week in the conditions we endured.. well, it's the kind of thing that only ever happens to us.

Nought will smash them to pieces taking the heat of us this week....

Wonder if the players have something on their mind? Perhaps the new evidence brief supplied by WADA to the AFL last night?

Oh did they, well mmm interesting...its not like the afl would give them the heads up or anything......(or in this case heads down).

Typical, Daniher misses this week. Couldn't miss last week could he.

Im flicking between the cricket and the storm game. Hope the bummers get flogged.

if true i expect to be reading the whole thing by monday.

Daniher back to his inaccurate best. We have to be the most unlucky club in the AFL.

No

You make your own luck.

We kicked badly anything reasonable and what Daniher did would not matter.

Heed Gil's words of wisdom in his press conference today. "We need Essendon back being strong and winning games."

Says it all, really.

Yep and fits in with the numerous similar things he has said over the last year.

He is a disaster of the highest order.

I'm sure Robbo's furiously scouring Jimmy's copy of the brief to find the slightest contradiction.

Nah he is not that clever. They are others that do that for the chief.

I'm sure Jimmy sent Robbo a completely objective, unbiased summary of WADA's charges.

"It's all made up! They're out to get me! It's propaganda! Gil is being a meanie!"

Daniher now officially on the protected species list at Umpire HQ.

Disgusting, pathetic, soft, [censored] [censored] free kick. All of one pinky finger on his back and he gets a free kick right in front of goal.

Meanwhile, forwards run at the ball and get held, pushed, shoved and bent over right in front of goal and the umpires do nothing. They are murdering this game, not the coaches.

I wish the MFC teams of the last eight years had <once> got stuck in at a half time brawl. We are still soft.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
