You can't be serious mate

You were 18 once. You can't seriously tell me you haven't matured since then

If we don't pick him up, it's not going to be because of how he acted at school 4 years ago

when we were back in the tom lynch (crows) draft year, I was sentt a pm by a young poster saying lets not draft Lynch, new him at school,,,, he's so arrogant !!

we have to get past this bigotry or bias of this conservative club, if we make mistakes after they're recruited we straiten them up or sack them, simple.

What if a WA afl club has been telling Bennell to act up, & get sacked, so he can get home to WA cheaply ?

What if Jack Darling was advised to get in trouble at a Pub, Pre-Draft, if he doesn't want Mfc to draft him, & he wants to stay in WA?

.

I understand and appreciate the "Trengove factor" however there a few blokes on our list that hold no currency and should be shown the door pronto.

However it its a case of the players at least getting a couple of weeks stress Free R&R then good on the club for allowing them that luxury,

Howe, Grimes and 2nd round pick for Bennel + 3rd round pick

Watts and Garland for Redden

Garland = FA...

Yeah, someone mentioned the other day he can still be bundled up in a trade. I'll have a look and see if I can find it.

Very unlikely - he has to agree. Why would he agree if he can simply go wherever he wants as a RFA?

We can threaten to match the salary, but if we are trying to trade him - that doesn't make it seem like we are really going to match the salary...

Technically possible, but undeniably implausible.

Only if we match the offer. Yet to happen under free agency.

It can't just happen in a bundle.

Wonder if Andrew Moore has ever appealed to our recruiting team. Like his size and right now he holds more appeal to me than Jake Melksham.

Yep, Moore's on my shopping list for the off season. Could be a real valuable utility. In our 22 if you ask me.

All I have heard this week is that MFC would be mad to get rid of Watts and Howe (AFL 360 Maclure & King and in one paper). At delisting time expect those without currency and out of contract who will not be offered new contracts i.e. Bail, Riley, McKenzie and maybe Terlich as well as the retirees Cross & Jamar, maybe even Hunt onto rookie list to a total of 6 and of. Roos said the other night uncontracted players like Howe can still be negotiating until end of October and of course Garland is a free agent. Any movement of contracted players is a bit more complicated and there are those who want to leave like those at GWS and GC who want to leave and those who don't want to leave like Jack who openly states he wants to stay.

When did Beams move on from Collingwood? It was really late. I don't expect any major changes at the first announcement and no real surprises

I think we should take a lot of comfort that we are not leaking players like GWS, Brisbane and Gold Coast.

In fact most are making a case to stay.

This would suggest a very positive feeling in the group about the future and a strong bond between the players.

Hope I'm right.

as a top up to our list, obviously we won't get 8 A graders, maybe 1, or 2 IF we are very lucky, so I'm happy for him as a replacement of Bail, MJones, or McKenzie,

Melbourne delists:

Fitzy

McKenzie

Riley

Bail

No surprises I guess but always sad a demon player go.

They did their best in tough circumstances.

Wish them well.

That makes at least 6 list changes.

Thought Fitzy was a bit stiff

Thought Fitzy was a bit stiff

Don't be ridiculous!

Absolute spud. Needed to rid our list of him finally!

Is 11 the maximum we can move on in 1 year??

No maximum.

Thought Fitzy was a bit stiff

Hardly. Was an athlete with a poor football IQ. Only possible position for him was as a fwd/2nd ruck, but he couldn't ruck and was a useless forward.

No maximum.

Toumpas

Howe

Garland

Watts

Grimes

Dawes

Terlich

M.Jones

Spenser

Makes 15 and were done.

This year or next.

And the clean out is complete.

I would still keep Watts, he has upside and possibly plenty of it.

For mine the sad part is out of the six gone plus 9 I've mentioned, Cross was the best of the lot. That says a lot about why we are where we are. We've clung on for too long blaming everyone but the players themselves.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
