Delistings/trades at end of the season

Recommended Posts

Hopefully these Dion Prestia rumors come to fruition. Yes we have a decent number of in and under mids, but he would walk into our club and just about be our best player. Statistically his last 2 seasons have been pretty much on par with Nathan Jones. Second only to Ablett in their best and fairest. He'd be a great pick up by the club and definitely help our future midfield prospects. Well worth our first pick and a decent amount of coin!

I think we'd fit them in fine. It would free up guys like Vince and Tyson to do a bit more damage on the outside as both can kick long goals. It would make us less reliant on Jones and Vince to do all the work and shift the tag around a bit also. Prestia is serious quality and if there is even the slightest chance we can get him we should throw everything at him. Anyone who leads the league in clearances and averages 27 touches a game and 5-6 tackles a game would be huge for our midfield.

No doubt he is a potential gun. Gc will play hard ball at the trade table.

Fixed that for you.

If he wants to leave and nominates us as his preferred club, then the trade will get done. Easy trade, we give them our first pick. If they play hard ball we throw in Howe and take their second round pick or something along those lines. Prestia is a certified gun and IMO would be our best player within 12 months. He's already on par with Nathan Jones the last 2 seasons!

Here's Prestia's stats compared to Nathan Jones the pas 2-3 seasons. They are pretty much on par. And Prestia was 20 at the time those stats were taken. Before his injury this year he had surprassed Jones statistically even though he's only 22. Kid is a certified gun midfielder.

I see its now starting to get around the facebook pages..

I do remember Garry Lyon did mention at the start of the year Prestia would return home to melbourne next.

So the potential of Prestia and Petracca into our midfield next year? Holy moly...

Yep I agree he would add class to our midfield and will require decent coin and decent trade.

It's why both Howe and Garland in some respects have chosen the wrong year to be coming out of contract.

With an emerging list (yes I know we've only won 4 games) my understanding is we no longer have massive room in our cap.

Garland signed his last deal after his runner-up B&F deal and I think he'd have to accept a substantial salary loss to stay loyal. That's fair enough because he's no longer in our top 10 players (some would say not in our top 20).

I don't think Howey is on such a big amount, but he still will find it hard to obtain a massive price hike at another club and his moderate season does not help his chances.

Both will be in demand from other clubs (I suspect late second round), so we should be able to get something in return that helps our Prestia deal.

Fitzy may also attract some interest, although if Garland goes, he should be a priority signing for us.

When you look at the others out of contract, the big key now should be signing Gawn - any word anyone?

2015

Jamar 31 (UFA), Garland 26 (RFA), McKenzie 24, Howe 24, Gawn 23, Fitzpatrick 23, Toumpas 21, Pedersen 28, Hunt 19, Cross 32, Bail 26, Riley 23, Harmes ® 19, King ® 19, White ® 18

Would be interesting to see how we fit all these inside mids into the team.

Yes, fitting genuine quality into the team will be hard................ Um no.

If we are lucky enough to bring him in, finding him a spot in the best 22 will not be hard at all. He would straight away improve the quality and depth of our team.

For mine, you would want to keep Garland, Gawn, Fitz, Toump , Pedo, Cross (another year) Harmes and King. Don't know enough about White.

So playing on the same ground as Melbourne must be a great environment for kicking straight .....Cloke....Daniher.....sadly.

When I was referring to the environment I meant the club. Collingwood spend millions in their football department and have invested heavily in Cloke most recently hiring a sports psychologist. We've all seen the results. You can either kick or you can't.

Like this if this was the case and we get a good compo pick for garland that leaves us with Prestia and a couple of pics in the low 20s happy days

I didn't say we would have trouble fitting him in smart arse.

Cut White and you'll wind up getting another rookie on the same money - you have to fill the list. He'll stay. Jamar's retirement would free up some money, but the salary cap is certainly an issue. Confident it will be sorted.

Just to note regarding any possible compensation through the loss of Garland, Roosy was on SEN this afternoon and made note of hoping to be big players in FA this post season, not just leaving it to the big clubs as they continue to get bigger.

I wonder what kind of FA names are even still possibilities that would be valued in our favour, compared to the value of potential Garland compensation should he choose to move on.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
